What’s Old is New Again at Disney World in Orlando!
Friday, July 2nd, 2010Disney is going retro bringing back the electric light parade from it’s California theme park. Those of you who remember the electric light parade will be highly impressed with the modernization of this Disney Magic Kingdom night time parade. Adding to the hype is the fact that Disney plans on returning the electric light parade to California in 2011, which means unless you want to go to California, you have to visit before the end of the year. During high season when Disney has later hours of operation is when you can see this Disney classic. Once school starts Disney typically closes earlier except for special occasions such as Thanksgiving, Christmas and any time kids are out of school.
Over at Epcot Center Captain EO returns featuring Michael Jackson in his prime. This sci-fi 3-D film returns the original seventy minute version with additional 4-D effects such as lighting, wind and water. Disney is opening it today July 1st for a limited engagement. No date has been announced for the limited engagement to end. My guess is it will depend on the popularity of this Disney attraction, which ran from 1986 to 1994 originally. The renewed popularity of Michael Jackson since his death just over a year ago should make this attraction a hit once again. This seventeen minute movie/attraction features two songs and Michael Jackson’s phenomenal dancing including his trademark moon walk. Angelica Houston plays the Supreme Leader in this timeless show. Catch this thirty million dollar production while you can (yes thirty million dollars in the mid 80′s) Michael Jackson fans are likely to increase attendance at Disney’s Epcot Center.
