Dinosaur World is now Dino-sized!

Heading to Tampa or coming from Tampa to Orlando just may require a half-day stop. In Plant City, famous for its strawberries, is a newly expanded Central Florida theme park many don’t know about. Dinosaur World has recently doubled in size, so it will be difficult to miss. If you’re interested in dinosaurs (what person isn’t?), you’ll be glad to spend a half day checking out this fun attraction in Central Florida.

The new expansion at Dinosaur World includes 12 acres filled with everything dinosaur. Moving animatronic dinosaurs, including Brachiosaurus, Triceratops, Pterodactyl, Stegosaurus and of course T-Rex will fascinate the entire family. The new 22,000 square foot addition is home to the Prehistoric Museum where you can see row after row of authentic fossils. Learn about everything from real dinosaur eggs to raptor claws and even mammoth teeth.

Two new playgrounds are available with one designed especially for those under 7 and one for older kids. Another child favorite is the Fossil Dig. The new dig site is filled with fossils. If you don’t find one, not to worry, you can purchase a piece of history in the gift shop. It now contains over 5,000 square feet of dinosaur fun. The shop includes an educational section which parents and teachers will find very useful. Speaking of teachers, the entire month of March is Teacher Month. All teachers with school ID will be admitted free!

Prices for Dinosaur World are $16.95 plus tax for adults; $11.95 plus tax for children ages 3 to 12 and $14.95 plus tax for seniors over 60. Visit dinosaurworld.com for hours and more information.

Spotlight Attraction: Dinosaur World

Dinosaur World is located in Plant City, FL, and is just off I-4 between Orlando and Tampa.  This attraction features over 150 life-size dinosaurs!  There is a dinosaur museum, which is very educational on everything from dinosaur eggs to raptor claws.  There are a Fossil Sig and Boneyard, where you can search for fossils in a real paleontological setting.  They have a life-size skeletal garden, gift shop, and picnic area.  Dinosaur World also features ‘caves,’ where you can picnic in a unique setting including a video theatre. Children will enjoy the playground area. This is a great, educational, affordable attraction where you can take the kids, or a group of children for a field trip. (Reservations required for group rates.)

Regular admission prices are $12.75 for adults,  $9.75 for children ages 3 to 12,  $10.75 for seniors over 60, friendly pets on leashes – free! And if it’s your child’s birthday (ages 3-12, proof required), they get in for free! Military personnel also receive free admission with an active military ID and their dependents receive $1 off. Dinosaur World’s annual passes offer discounted prices as well as 50% off exhibit admission to Fantasy of Flight. This offer is good until December 31, 2010.  They also participate in the Orlando Smiles program.

So if you’re a dinosaur enthusiast or you just want to check out something different, Dinosaur World is worth the drive.
