D-Luxe Burger at Disney Springs Town Center

If you crave burgers and milkshakes while visiting our Lake Buena Vista paradise, D-Luxe Burger will soon have your fix. This Disney-owned and operated gourmet burger-and-shake joint opened in May of 2016 in the Town Center section of Disney Springs. The new Orlando restaurant is famous for it delicious gourmet burgers and twisted milkshakes. My mouth is watering.

D-Luxe Burger Menu

No matter what type of burger you enjoy, it appears that D-Luxe Burger will have one for you. Of course they’ll offer a traditional American Classic Cheeseburger with cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato and a pickle. However, if you are ready to delight your taste buds, venture into some of their not-so-traditional flavor combinations. Here are some to consider when dining at D-Luxe Burger.

D-luxe Burger BBQ Burger

Barbecue Classic Burger is a gourmet beef patty topped with a fried onion ring, smoked Gouda cheese, bacon, lettuce and barbecue sauce.

El Diablo Burger is created from a chorizo-and-signature-blend patty and topped with fried banana peppers, pepper jack cheese, lettuce, tomato and chipotle mayonnaise.

Southern Classic Burger uses a gourmet beef patty featuring pimento cheese, lettuce, bacon and a Southern tradition of fried-green tomato.

The “Cluck” Burger is a ground chicken patty with a garlic herb sauce, avocado, lettuce and tomato.

Veggie Burger uses a non-beef house made patty and Tzatiki, green bean salad, lettuce and tomato.

In addition, no burger is complete without fries and something to wash it down with. At the new D-Luxe Burger your fresh-cut fries will be served with your choice of dipping sauces. Plus, you’ll have plenty of beverage choices.

Not Your Ordinary Milkshakes

Smoked Bourbon Milkshake

The Artisanal Gelato Shakes feature many different flavors including Vanilla, Chocolate, Raspberry, Strawberry, Salted Caramel, S’mores and Cake. Other floats available are Root Beer, Cherry Coke and orange. Additionally, sodas will be offered and beverages that adults will enjoy, such as draft beer, cider and “shakes with spirits.” The flavors include Smoked Bourbon and Beer (with a slice of crispy bacon as a garnish) and an alcohol shake made with Godiva Raspberry.

Burger Desserts?

What’s in store for dessert? Also keeping with the burger theme, D-Luxe Burger will be offering a Red Velvet Burger Macaron. Made to look “burger-like,” these sweet desserts will also delight your taste buds. All of the ingredients appear to be items you’d find on a classic hamburger, but are actually delicious sweet concoctions such as raspberry instead of ketchup.

If the wide selection of beverages is a plus for you, take note… There is one Orlando dinner show that offers more beverages (included in your ticket price) than any other. Capone’s Dinner & Show may not offer Gelato milkshakes, but you’ll find a wide variety of drinks on their menu. Alcoholic drinks, including beer, wine and Al’s famous Rum Runners are included in your ticket price. Additionally, tickets are half price when ordered online!

We’re excited that the D-Luxe Burger is a dining option at Disney Springs. There are plenty of other burger joints to choose from in Orlando, but I’d venture to guess that very few  (if any) offer this type of gourmet selection. This restaurant gives an all-new meaning to “Cheeseburger in paradise.”

New Theme Park Restaurants at Animal Kingdom

New theme park restaurants are opening nearly every month, and the new eateries and shops at Disney’s Animal Kingdom are worth checking out. From chain restaurants to unique sweet shops, you’ll find familiarity as well as never-before-experienced menus.  One thing is for sure, an animal appetite is sure to be tamed!

New Theme Park Restaurants include Starbucks Coffee Shop

On the familiar side of new theme park restaurants in Animal Kingdom is the Seattle-based company of Starbucks. This new chain restaurant opened in April and is now represented in all four Walt Disney World theme parks and two additional locations in Downtown Disney. (Starbucks are also located within Universal Orlando’s Islands of Adventure and Universal CityWalk). The Animal Kingdom Starbucks is located outside of the entrance to “Africa” on the west side of the Orlando theme park. You’ll find it as you approach the iconic Tree of Life, just before the bridge.

Disney Starbucks MugsUnique Souvenirs

Starbucks offers a unique souvenir at this store. The Disney “You Are Here” mugs come decorated according to the park you are in. The Animal Kingdom mug shows the Tree of Life, Expedition Everest, a jeep (Kilimanjaro Safaris) and a giraffe. They make great souvenirs.

Zuri’s Sweet Shop Now Open

Zuri's Sweet Shop

Zuri’s Sweet Shop is a new theme park restaurant and shop at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

In the Harambe Market within Disney’s Animal Kingdom, a new dessert shop recently opened called Zuri’s Sweet Shop. At this new theme park restaurant you’ll find dozens of never-before-experienced treats. In fact, the menu is raising all kinds of “stink.” Let me explain…

Editor’s Note: After only a few weeks Disney has announced that the poo desserts will no longer be offered. After testing (and maybe the publicity?), they will no longer restock these items.

Along with candy apples, chocolate bars, African-spiced popcorn, animal-shaped lollipops and 80 other new items, Zuri’s is now selling animal poop! Inspired by dropping of the large game animals of Africa, the chefs at Zuri’s decided to have fun and create desserts you won’t turn up your nose at. Four types of poo are offered at $3.99 per serving (enough for two people). Choose from giraffe, rhino/hippo, elephant and cotton-top tamarin. You’ll have fun just picking out the dessert, because you have to match the “poo” with the species! Ingredients include:

  • giraffe: pellets of fudge/brownie
  • rhino/hippo: chocolate fudge, caramel-brownie, peanut butter and oats
  • elephant: oats and peanut butter
  • tamarin: pretzels, chocolate-peanut butter fudge

The theme park shop is an experience all in itself. All of the sights, sounds and flavors of Africa can be experienced here. Be sure to try the African Spice popcorn. With just a hint of cardamom, it is very addictive. You might need to purchase an extra bag for later.

Allergy-Friendly Menus

In addition to the new restaurants, Disney has also started incorporating allergy-friendly menus within their theme parks. The menus have been tested for common food allergies and intolerances. So far, over a dozen locations have adopted the menu. Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge is one of the newest locations to offer one. If you or your child have a special dietary need, consult with a Cast Member. They can assist you or consult with a chef about your needs.

Tree of Life

If you’ve not experienced Disney’s Animal Kingdom recently, check it out. The Tree of Life’s roots have expanded and include new animal carvings. The 145-foot tall by 50 fee wide structure has more than 103,000 leaves and over 300 meticulously detailed animal carvings in its trunk and roots! Inside the tree is a theater where “It’s Tough to be a Bug!” is performed. There are dozens of places to grab a bite and a couple of very nice full-service restaurants.

Like all Disney theme parks, there is plenty to do and see. Now there is even more to taste. A full day is sure to leave you “pooped” and with a bag to take home as well!

New Italian Restaurant Coming to Disney

By Christmas time, you could very well be dining at a new Italian restaurant at Disney’s BoardWalk. The new restaurant, Trattoria al Forno, plans to open some time in December, offering Old World techniques in cuisine from various regions of Italy. It is sure to be worth the wait.

Trattoria al FornoThe style of dishes will come from the name “Trattoria” which equates to a restaurant serving simple food. For example, the Neapolitan pizzas come from the region of Naples, Italy where classic pies are made with a simple tomato sauce and fresh mozzarella cheese. The cheese, by the way, is handcrafted and made daily at the restaurant.

The menu will also feature dishes from the second part of the name “al Forno” which means that many items will be baked in an oven. A wood-burning oven will provide the perfect flavoring for baked dishes such as lasagna, braised beef Bolognese, roasted fish with vegetables, slow-cooked lamb shank with polenta and more. The new restaurant will also offer grilled items.

The new Orlando restaurant will also consider the vegetarian guest with a nice selection of meatless dishes. The pastas are sure to be a favorite along with the eggplant rollatini and the roasted potatoes. It’s hard not to love anything with a Genovese pesto, in which Trattoria al Forno will prepare fresh.

An Italian restaurant isn’t complete unless it features great wines, and the Trattoria al Forno plans to offer Italian wines from regions including Veneto, Tuscany and Piedmont. In fact, over 60 bottled wines will be available and more than 25 wines by the glass. Signature cocktails and Italian beers will also be offered. A special signature-blend of Italian coffee will also be featured, roasted specifically for this new restaurant.

A cappuccino will go well with the planned menu of desserts. Sweets being planned for the menu include tiramisù, gelatos, and a signature dish called bomboloni (Italian donut holes) with dark chocolate and vanilla gelato. Is your mouth watering yet?

The best way to stay informed about this new restaurant is to visit the Disney Parks Blog. Once the opening gets nearer, you’ll be able to make reservations online by visiting Disney’s web site. The price range has not been announced at this time. This new restaurant will join the Flying Fish Cafe, Big River Grilled, ESPN Club and others at the BoardWalk. Kouzzina by Cat Cora® will be closing in September; read more about that in a previous post. Many other places to dine near Disney can be found at the Marketplace, Pleasure Island and in the Downtown Disney area.

Capone’s Dinner & Show is often categorized as an Italian Restaurant, and has been featuring Italian/American food for over 20 years. We prepare fresh pasta every day for our evening dinner shows. Our pizza is a hit, along with our other Italian dishes. So if you’re craving Italian food, and cannot wait until December, be sure to plan an evening and dine with us and take in the show. Good food, good laughter and good times are had by all at our Orlando dinner show. Once December rolls around, be sure to make a reservation at the new Italian restaurant Trattoria al Forno. If you like Italian cuisine, it is sure to be spectacular.

Another New Restaurant Opens at CityWalk

A lot of hot dogs are consumed over the July 4th weekend, and the Hot Dog Hall of Fame couldn’t have opened at a better time. This new restaurant within Universal Orlando’s CityWalk is one of many that have opened this year. As posted previously, there are several new restaurants replacing culinary concepts to help revitalize this entertainment complex.

Hot dogs are one of America’s most popular foods. In fact, many of us glue ourselves to the television every year to watch the hot dog eating contest which takes place over the holiday weekend. While I love a good hot dog, it pains me to see these contestants stuff one after another into their mouths. It’s just so hard to stop watching!

The Hot Dog Hall of Fame features stadium-style seating. These seats come from stadiums all over the United States. There is also artificial turf and bleachers to make you feel as if you are in the stadium. The hots dogs also come from some of our nation’s famous ball parks. Craving a loaded Chicago dog? Stop by this new restaurant and treat yourself! Perhaps you prefer a brat from Milwaukee. They have them too. However, you may want to reconsider putting ketchup on your dog. To many culinary experts, this is just not acceptable (and possibly un-American!). Perhaps the best feature at this new restaurant is the gourmet mustard bar!

Located across from Antojitos Authentic Mexican Food which opened in February of this year, this new Orlando restaurant is easy to find and sure to be a popular quick eating alternative. Hours are from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. Prices range from $9 to $14, so I doubt you will want to get into a hot dog eating contest at these prices, but one or two are sure to fill you up.

If you are looking for a place to eat your favorite hot dog, be sure to check out the Hot Dog Hall of Fame. If you are open to other American favorites, be sure to save a night for a dinner show. While hot dogs are not on the menu at Capone’s Dinner & Show, feel free to stuff yourself with many other American favorites. Kids (and adults) love the pizza and chicken bites. Picky pasta eaters get to create their own combination of pastas and sauces. Let’s not forget the meat carving station where you can sample three delicious freshly roasted meats. Best of all, tickets are half price when you purchase them online.

This new restaurant at Orlando’s theme parks is sure to be a hit. Another hit you don’t want to swing and miss is Capone’s Dinner & Show. Let Al and the gang take you out to a different type of ball park and immerse yourself in 1930’s gangland Chicago. It’s a blast!

Orlando Restaurant News – Capone’s Offers 2-show Saturdays

Orlando dinner shows are selling out and most of the Orlando restaurant news this week concentrates on summer crowds. Vacationers are pouring in, school is out, and business is in full gear. Every type of restaurant is benefitting – from the fast food chains to the fine dining restaurants.

2-Show Saturday Summer

To accommodate as many guests as possible, and still offer a great show, meal and service, Capone’s Dinner & Show will be doubling up on Saturday night shows in July & the first week of August. It’s going to be a 2-show Saturday Summer. The best way to guarantee a seat is to pre-pay for your tickets. Buying them online is easy, not to mention half price. No need to search for a local coupon.

Pre-paying Reservations

Many food enthusiasts are accustomed to pre-paying for a reservation. Did you know that some restaurants are now using pay-up-front reservations to control their fine dining business? Restaurants like Next in Chicago and Trois Mec in LA are using this system to ensure that their kitchens have enough food on hand. No need to worry about that at Capone’s Dinner & Show. This Orlando dinner show prepares a spread like no other dinner show buffet around. Every night, and on two-show nights, you can bet, Mama Capone will be stocked and ready. Come hungry!

Home-made Pasta

Did you know that Capone’s makes their own pastas? Yes. Fresh pasta is on the menu every night. Pick your pasta, choose from a variety of sauces and make an Italian feast of your very own. There are so many options on the delicious buffet, you may have to create several combinations. Have fun with it!

New Orlando Restaurants

Speaking about pasta, have you ever eaten at a Noodles & Company?  They have nearly 400 restaurants in the Rockies, Midwest and Mid-Atlantic regions and now are expanding into Florida. Word is they got tired of the cold and the harsh winter was harse on profits. Their first restaurant in Florida is located at Lake Buena Vista, 12529 State Road 535, Orlando, FL 32836. They offer pasta prepared in a variety of ways – American, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese and Thai flavors. The menu also includes soups, salads and sandwiches. Customers order at the counter, then are served at tables with china and silverware. You don’t see that very often in Florida!

Noodles & Company billboard

Another restaurant chain that could make its way to Orlando is PDQ. It is a popular restaurant chain serving chicken sandwiches in the Tampa area. Its owners are starting a new line of restaurants which also might come to Orlando some day – WTF! Well, that isn’t the name of the restaurant, but it IS what the owners are having fun with calling the new chain Wow! That’s Fresh. This “fast-casual” chain will be similar to Panera Bread where guests will order up front and pick up their own food and gather their own drinks with minimum wait staff. It will have a good variety of dishes to choose from.

Using Google Works Both Ways

Finally, something else in restaurant news that is trending in fine dining establishments is the use of Googling customers. You read that right! Search engines can be used two ways – a person can find a good restaurant AND a restaurant can learn more about a reserved guest. I don’t know of any restaurants around here that are using this technology – yet. However, I read an interesting article about it, and wanted to pass the information on. Read the article on Good Food. If you know of an Orlando restaurant that uses this as a way to please their guests, let us know! Feel free to leave a comment below on Al’s Blog.

Enjoy dining this summer at Orlando restaurants and be sure to take your kids to an Orlando dinner show. Capone’s Dinner & Show is a great way to introduce your child to theater. Everyone in your gang will enjoy the show, meal and service. If Saturday’s are too busy for your family, choose another night. Capone’s is open every night of the year. Bon Appetit!
