Comedy Show – Add Some Laughter Tonight

A comedy show comes highly recommended for many living or visiting Orlando. Life in general can cause stress and tension. Add to it the recent tragic events that have happened in Orlando, and you have a high need for some laughter instead of tears.

We have all been experiencing a wide range of emotions as of late; some even experiencing stages of grief. We can all try to relate. We can try to console. But what we all know of and need most is something positive that we all understand. Comedy is a universal language that we all speak no matter what race, ethnicity, gender, etc. At no other time does the phrase “laughter is the best medicine” ring so true. Attending a comedy show or dinner show loaded with comedy is a great way to add laughter to your life or vacation – at least for an evening. After that, it is up to you.

Capone’s Dinner Show is a Comedy Show with Stand-up

Live comedy is a dying art. So few entertainers or dinner shows do it well. A stand-up comedy show not only connects the audience with the performers and each other, it also lends each performance to be original. Capone’s Dinner & Show knows how to do comedy. The show content contains a hugh amount of comedy. Add to the show a segment of stand-up, and you’ve got a lot of “medicine” being spread.

“The stand-up portion of the show is often the most-favorite part for our guests.”
– – John Kucik, owner of Capone’s Dinner & Show

Stressful Vacation?

What should be a relaxing time can quickly turn into a stressful vacation for families. Schedules, finances, trying to make everyone happy… the list goes on and on. Tourists can benefit by adding a comedy show to their vacation schedule and thereby remove some of the stress. The fact that Capone’s tickets are half price online saves a family a lot of money (less stress), enjoyed by all ages (less stress) and is filled with comedy (less stress), makes it a go-to dinner attraction for anyone visiting the Orlando area.

Benefits of Laughter

It prevents heart disease, lowers stress and anxiety, and enhances our resilience to harsh situations. Socially, laughter strengthens our relationships and helps form bonds, while maintaining the ultimate power of defusing conflicts and misunderstandings. Talk about a natural remedy! Laughter needs to go viral!!

The benefits of humor and laughter are numerous, and there are several ways to incorporate comedy into your daily life. If you want to read a good article, I highly recommend reading this help guide. I especially like the section where it talks about not taking yourself so seriously. The wise guys and gals at Al’s joint are good at that.

Early Performance on the Johnny Carson Show:

The Improv Comedy Club & Dinner Theatre is a good destination when seeking a nice laugh over dinner. It was established over 40 years ago featuring mostly local comedians. Through the years nationally recognized improv comedians such as Robin Williams, Adam Sandler, Jerry Seinfeld, and Drew Carey have performed here. Unlike some comedy clubs, this one is small enough that it feels comfortable without being too cramped or alternatively expansive. Show prices vary according to the talent, but are commonly priced around $25.

Your meal is not included in your dinner show ticket. Various appetizers, sandwiches, entrees, desserts and beverages are offered at an additional cost. Note: The theatre automatically includes an 18% gratuity to your dinner ticket. In the dim lights, you might miss it on your bill, even though they try to be obvious about the charge. The wait staff works hard and is careful not to interrupt the show, so they earn the tip.

The Orlando Improv Comedy Club & Dinner Theatre is located at 9101 International Dr., Orlando, FL 32819. The entrance to the club is a little unusual. You enter through a restaurant that is owned by the club.

Spotlight: Outta Control Magic Comedy Dinner Show

Although we’d rather have visitors choose Capone’s Dinner & Show over any other dinner theater, many guests attend multiple shows during their vacation. Therefore, we’d like to provide our ‘review’ of the other shows in the area. In this post we spotlight Outta Control Magic Comedy Dinner Show:

For a great break from the theme parks, Orlando’s dinner shows are a great option.  The Outta Control Magic Comedy Dinner Show, located inside the WonderWorks attraction, is an entertaining show for all ages.  This high-energy show consists of music, magic, illusions, comedy and lots of audience participation.  It’s rare to find a show that is this entertaining and funny, but is not vulgar.  If you have a wide variety of ages in your group, it can be hard to find an activity everyone can enjoy, but this show is something everyone will love.  The audience participation is great, but it’s totally voluntary, so you don’t have to worry about being picked if you don’t want to.

Shows are presented nightly at 6:00 and 8:00 pm.  And, since it is inside WonderWorks (the upside-down building), you can get there early and enjoy the attraction before the show.  Definitely make a reservation as each 90-minute show only seats maybe 125 people at a time.  And, get there at least 20 minutes early.

You’ll be served unlimited hand-tossed pizza, salad, popcorn, dessert, beer, wine and soft drinks.  The pizza isn’t the best in the world, but its pretty good and always a kid favorite.  And, not only is the food unlimited, but so is the beer and wine.

If you are only planning to go to one dinner show, Capone’s Dinner & Show has much more to offer.  Not only is Capone’s very entertaining for all ages, but we have great options for dinner, not just pizza.  The delicious, unlimited buffet includes American and Italian favorites such as lasagna, slow-roasted pot roast, brown sugar glazed ham, fettuccini alfredo, and more!  Capone’s has more drink options as well including Al’s original rum runner, and cape cods (vodka & cranberry).

Spotlight: Treasure Tavern

This show is no longer open! It has been replaced by Teatro Martini

Although we’d rather have visitors choose Capone’s Dinner & Show over any other dinner theater, many guests attend multiple shows during their vacation. Therefore, we’d like to provide our ‘review’ of the other shows in the area. In this post we spotlight the Treasure Tavern Dinner Show.

Orlando Dinner Show Review

Treasure Tavern is one of Orlando’s newer dinner shows, having opened in 2010. Located within the Pirate’s Dinner Adventure complex, this 2-hour show is very entertaining. One of the things different about this show is that it is ‘adults only.’  It’s a nice break from all the kid-oriented Central Florida attractions, theme parks and shows. The talented staff is wonderful, and the improv comedy is hilarious with a lot of sexual innuendos, without being overly crude or vulgar. There are several sketches that bring audience members on stage, as well as ones that simply use an idea the audience throws out. The audience participation is great, and the performers really know how to interact with the crowd. Definitely not a place to go when you want to spend a lot of time talking to the people you’re with, it’s an interactive show, not a quiet dinner. The comedy sketches occur during non-eating times, and the other performers come out with the food, which is a very good set-up. While the only break from any performance comes with the main course, it’s not difficult to both eat and enjoy what is happening on stage.

The show itself is Broadway-style live entertainment including the Rum Girls cabaret, Acrobats, contortionists, and magic acts. The show’s entertainment rotates based on seasonal availability of entertainment acts. This is great because you can go back again and again and the show will be different each time.

The menu is a 3-course meal consisting of a nice garden salad, beef tenderloin (and other options you may upgrade to for an additional fee) with choice of loaded baked or mashed potato, and asparagus with hollandaise sauce. Ala carte appetizers are available also. Opera cake is served for dessert. There are vegetarian options available as well. Drinks are not free and unlimited like other dinner shows; only one rum punch and water is included in the price. The drinks are high-priced, like most of the Orlando attractions; however, having to pay for drinks is no reason not to attend. Just know this ahead of time and be prepared.

If you are only planning to go to one Orlando dinner show, Capone’s Dinner & Show has a much better dinner selection. Not only is Capone’s very entertaining for all ages, but we have a delicious, unlimited buffet.  The buffet consists of American and Italian favorites such as lasagna, pizza, create-your-own-pasta-dish, a meat carving station, salad bar, and much more!

The show at Treasure Tavern runs nightly Tuesday thru Saturday. It is located at the Pirates Dinner Theater (2 separate shows; 3 if you count the Three Musketeers Show), so be sure to walk around to the correct entrance.  They also offer the option of dinner and show or no dinner. So, you could even catch both shows, and not have to have 2 dinners.  Dress is smart casual, no shorts or tank tops.  Check their website for Florida resident specials, if you’re a Floridian. They also have a birthday special where the birthday person gets in free with a full-paying guest. They offer group specials for parties 10 or more and private shows and a private reception area is available as well. It’s a great adult evening out!
