Special Event Celebrates Harry Potter

A Celebration of Harry Potter

Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure are setting aside 3 days for A Celebration of Harry Potter™. Attend one or both of these Orlando theme parks January 24 – 26, 2014 and enjoy interactive experiences, exciting demonstrations, and more. If attending on Friday, you could even take part in a special evening event featuring select cast members from the movies, including Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood), James Phelps (Fred Weasley) and Oliver Phelps (George Weasley).

With The Wizarding World of Harry Potter™ – Diagon Alley™ coming sometime this year, important news about this new attraction will be released during this special event. Attend and you could be one of the first to know! There will be a lot of activities too, including:

  • A wand masterclass featuring Wand Combat choreographer Paul Harris
  • Q&A sessions with members of the Harry Potter™ cast
  • Panel discussions with MinaLima – creators of the graphics seen in the movies
  • An exclusive behind-the-scenes look at Pottermore.com – the interactive website from J.K. Rowling (Saturday & Sunday)
  • One-of-a-kind Harry Potter™ Expo with interactive activities for fans including a vignette of movie costumes from Harry Potter™: The Exhibition and The Sorting Hat™ experience.

If you are an Annual Passholder, you already have access to this event. If not, your best bet is to purchase a 3-Day Park-to-Park ticket in order to attend the most events. If you purchase a regular one-day park admission, A Celebration of Harry Potter™ is included with your ticket. Events are on a first-come, first-served basis, so you need to arrive early at any event you really want to attend. Friday’s evening event is only open to guests who purchased A Celebration of Harry Potter™ vacation package, which by the way, are sold out.

If you are a Harry Potter fan, this will be a great weekend to use your annual pass. Crowds are usually thinner this time of year, so getting into the Hogwarts castle and visiting the shops of Hogsmeade should be a little easier. This special event is sure to transport you into a world of magical thrills.

If you and your gang wish to be transported back in time to the prohibition era, attend Capone’s Dinner & Show after your visit to Universal Studios Harry Potter celebration. Our service staff have been known to magically keep your glasses filled and the laughs coming all evening long. It’s a blast from the past!

Disney’s Renovation of Fantasyland at the Magic Kingdom Orlando

A major renovation of Fantasyland has been in the planing stages for some time now, but now Disney has begun hiring contractors for the massive renovation. Starting in early 2012 Disney plans on opening it’s new Little Mermaid attraction and Pixie Hollow a new meet and greet area for Disney’s various fairies and princeses to interact with guests.

While Universal Orlando prepares to open it’s newest theme park within a theme park, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in the coming weeks. The appeal at Universal Orlando’s expansion will be mainly aimed at boys.

Disney’s revamp of Fantasyland will be going after the girls. It should be interesting for families with boys and girls begining in 2012 with options for both girls and boys at Orlando’s two premier attractions. Start saving now or plan a trip this year to see the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and then plan on early 2012 to visit or revist the Magic Kingdom at the Walt Disney World Resort.

Electrical Light Parade Coming Back to Orlando

Several years back the Electrical Light Parade was moved to Anaheim California but this summer it is coming back to Orlando. The night will again be lit at the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World by multitudes of lighted floats. Billed as the summer of Nighttastic a rejuvenated parade returns to Orlando updated with all new LED lights. Many Disney fans are going to be delighted to see it’s return.

Disney is making a strategical move to help it’s key summer season business and my belief is it’s part of Disney’s plans to try and keep their key childrens market. They will be facing a huge new player when The Wizarding World of Harry Potter opens inside Islands of Adventure Universal Orlando this spring.

Speaking of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter have you seen Universal Orlandos new commercial that debuted during the first half of the Super Bowl? I have seen it one other time on TNT since then and the commercial almost makes it seem that it’s open but at the end of the commercial it says coming this spring. An official opening date has yet to be announced.

I will keep you posted and as soon as I hear the official opening date I will be sure and get it on the blog fast.
