St. Patrick\u2019s Day is a great opportunity (or should I say, excuse?) to <strong>party<\/strong>, <strong>celebrate<\/strong> and have <strong>fun<\/strong>, even if you don\u2019t particularly look great in green!<\/p>\n<p>There is quite a bit of history about <strong>Irish mobsters and gangs<\/strong> since the Irish Mob is one of the oldest organized crime groups in the United States. Of course, <strong>Al Capone<\/strong> and his Italian counterparts usually come to mind when popularizing the <strong>prohibition era<\/strong>. Irish gang members from that time consisted of \u201cBig\u201d Bill Dwyer (New York\u2019s leading bootlegger during the early years of Prohibition), Owney \u201cThe Killer\u201d Madden, Frank Costello, Jack \u201cLegs\u201d Diamond, \u201cLittle\u201d Augie Pisano, Charles \u201cVannie\u201d Higgins and the renegade mobster Vincent \u201cMad Dog\u201d Coll. <em>Aren\u2019t their names fun to say out loud?<\/em> Although initially successful in keeping their Italian rivals at bay, unstable leadership and fighting within their own gang proved their downfall.
