It was brought to my attention after originally posting this article that I had left out our dear friends over at the Orlando Shakespeare Theater\u2019s<\/strong> other production. Miss Nelson is Missing<\/strong> is a great performance for the entire family. Kids will get a kick out of watching the rude students handle a very scarey substitute teacher. This modern, witty musical is being performed on various afternoons through November 19, and tickets can be purchased online<\/a> or at the box office. Along with all of the Fall and Halloween activities<\/strong> in the Orlando area, there are some wonderful theatre opportunities<\/strong> as well. Take a break from the tourist attractions<\/strong> and treat<\/em> yourself to an afternoon or evening taking in a performance <\/strong>or show.<\/strong> This is no trick<\/em>, there are many to choose from and you won\u2019t be disappointed.<\/p>\n

At the Enzian Theater<\/strong> (1300 South Orlando Avenue, Maitland, FL 32751), you can enjoy Haunted Swamp: Walk of Terror.<\/em> This event is comprised of two thousand feet of the freaky characters you\u2019ve come to know and fear along with a few new fellows to haunt your dreams.\u00a0 In addition to the Walk of Terror scary movies will be shown, including the 1931 version of Dracula, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre <\/em>and The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.<\/em> For the kids, Saturday matinees are planned including a not-too-scary movie, with fun, food and activities. At the Garden Theatre<\/strong> (160 W. Plant Street, Winter Garden, FL), the rock-n-roll musical Little Shop of Horrors<\/em>, is kicking off their 2011-12 season. Altar Boyz,<\/em> the hit musical, is being presented at The Abbey<\/strong> (100 South Eola Drive, Orlando, FL 32801) on select afternoons and evenings until November 20.\u00a0 This off-Broadway musical tells the story of a boy band trying to save the world one screaming fan at a time. With angelic voices, sinfully spectacular choreography and a touching story, Altar Boyz<\/em> is sure to rock the masses of all denominations. God of Carnage<\/em> is being performed at Lowndes Shakespeare Center<\/strong> (812 East Rollins Street, Orlando, FL 32803) by the Orlando Shakespeare Theater<\/strong> in partnership with UCF.<\/strong> Two high-strung couples meet for what they believe will be a civilized discussion about a playground fight between their two sons. The meeting degenerates into irrational arguments and loaded topics of misogyny, racial prejudice and homophobia resulting in \u201cninety minutes of sustained mayhem.\u201d Tickets cost $20 – $34 with performances on various dates until November 12 and are available by calling (407) 447-1700 or online at orlandoshakes.org.<\/a><\/p>\n

Mad Cow Theatre<\/strong> presents The Drowsy Chaperone<\/em>, a new musical comedy with tons of laughs and the most 2006 Tony Awards of any musical on Broadway. At this musical about people who adore musicals, you\u2019ll enjoy a hilarious tale of a celebrity bride and her uproarious wedding day, complete with thrills and surprises. Finally, if you are a mom, a friend of a mom, or have a mom, you\u2019ll want to catch The Mommies – A Musical Blog<\/em> in the Darden Theater <\/strong>at The Orlando Science Center<\/strong> (777 E Princeton St., Orlando, FL 32803).
