Bike Week in Central Florida is revving up!<\/strong>\u00a0Many tourists may not have realized they planned their vacation at the same time as Bike Week<\/a><\/strong>. Years ago they probably wouldn’t\u00a0have even noticed, but as the event has grown and the activity area has spread throughout Central Florida, it\u2019s hard NOT to notice. Even though the cold weather and tough economy have kept the numbers of bikers lower than in past years, there are still motorcycles everywhere.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Bike<\/p>\n

If you are attending theme parks, your vacation will most likely be \u201cbusiness as usual.\u201d Bikers primarily attend events created for them elsewhere. While the Daytona<\/strong> area attracts most of the crowd, DeLand, Orlando<\/strong> and other areas are luring the bikers away with\u00a0great events. This also allows bikers to\u00a0get in some great seat time (longer rides).<\/p>\n

Events are not for bikers only, so feel free to drive your \u201ccage\u201d to any event. I recommend riding the loop, the roads to & from Mt. Dora and around Lake County. Places to check out are\u00a0Willie’s Tropical Tattoo Old School Chopper Show<\/a>, the many events<\/strong> and concerts<\/strong> at Daytona Harley Davidson<\/a>, the concerts and events at Orlando HD<\/a>, or the legendary David Allen Coe<\/em> at the Ironhorse Saloon<\/a>. If you want to see something a little on the wild side, there is coleslaw wrestling at the Cabbage Patch<\/a>. Roads nearer to the events tend to become highly congested, so plan accordingly and PLEASE drive with safety in mind.<\/p>\n

Safe Driving during Bike Week in Central Florida, Please!<\/h2>\n

Once Bike Week in Central Florida is throttled down, a transformation from bikers to spring breakers<\/strong> begins.\u00a0Hotels will empty out, then fill back up, but one thing is for sure \u2013 the roads will be very busy.<\/em>\u00a0When learning to drive, I taught my kids to LOOK for the motorcycle.<\/strong>\u00a0You\u2019ll see the car.\u00a0You\u2019ll see the truck. You\u2019ll see ALL of the other vehicles on the road, as long as you are LOOKING for the motorcycles (and bicycles).<\/p>\n

Yes, I know a lot of motorcycle riders drive recklessly \u2013 so do cars! Please\u00a0give bikers the same respect that you give any other vehicle. Don\u2019t follow too closely, don\u2019t cut them off, don\u2019t stop suddenly in front of them, etc. This applies to the vehicles towing the bike trailers as well. The roads will be filled for the next two weeks\u00a0with both, riders and trailers.<\/p>\n

As always, Capone\u2019s Dinner & Show<\/strong><\/a> welcomes bikers and all groups<\/strong> that want to have a great evening out at an Orlando dinner show. Whether you ride 2-up or come with a big ol\u2019 biker gang, the wise guys and beautiful dancing girls will entertain and show you a great time. In fact, some motorcycle clubs make Capone\u2019s Dinner & Show an annual event.<\/strong> Meet up as a group and ride on in. Parking is free for everyone. You only need 15 adults<\/strong> to get a group rate<\/a>. Ride safe and enjoy Bike\u00a0Week\u00a0and all that is offered here in Central Florida!<\/strong><\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
