{"id":721,"date":"2010-06-04T09:53:12","date_gmt":"2010-06-04T13:53:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/alcapones.com\/blog\/?p=721"},"modified":"2010-06-04T10:02:03","modified_gmt":"2010-06-04T14:02:03","slug":"just-suntan-oil-on-our-beaches","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alcapones.com\/blog\/just-suntan-oil-on-our-beaches-721","title":{"rendered":"Just Suntan Oil On Our Beaches"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"width: 410px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"Beautiful beach\" src=\"https:\/\/alcapones.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/beach.jpg\" alt=\"Florida's Beaches\" width=\"400\" height=\"264\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Florida&#39;s beaches are &#39;open for business.&#39;<\/p><\/div>\n<p>With the media coverage surrounding the <strong>BP oil spill<\/strong>, there is a huge amount of concern about our beaches.\u00a0 <strong>All Florida beaches and cruise ports are open at this time.<\/strong> In fact, except for three beaches in Louisiana, ALL of the Gulf&#8217;s beaches are open.<\/p>\n<p>How much oil could come to Florida and when it might, remains unclear.\u00a0 Even <strong>President Obama<\/strong> has chimed in, saying &#8220;Americans can help by continuing to visit the communities and beaches of the Gulf Coast.\u201d The <a href=\"http:\/\/MyFWC.com\/Fishing\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>FWC<\/strong><\/a> even offered free (no license required) salt-water fishing over the Memorial Holiday weekend and June 5 &amp; 6 to encourage business within the fishing industry. Our officials are working desperately to get the word out \u201cFlorida is open for business!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>There is speculation that tourists will head <strong>inland<\/strong> away from the beaches. So far that hasn\u2019t happened, and may not occur at all. While Orlando\u2019s theme parks are away from the beaches, tourism tends to treat all of Florida as one. If tourists are considering a trip to Florida, and there is trouble brewing in <em>any<\/em> location of the state, many agents will steer vacation packages elsewhere. The impact also trickles down from tourist-related industries to non-tourist commerce, so <strong>eventually everyone in Florida will feel the effects from this disaster. <\/strong>With the official start of hurricane season now upon us, this is the last thing Florida needs.<\/p>\n<p>All of Florida is begging tourists <strong>NOT<\/strong> to cancel their trip to our beautiful state. In fact, it could be the best time to plan a visit! Many hotels are lowering their prices to entice visitors to come. The crowds have thinned too. If you\u2019re concerned about any potential impact from the oil spill, we encourage you to check with local destinations in order to get the most up-to-date information.
