One of Orlando’s top dinner shows, the Wantilan Luau, is known for its authentic Polynesian cuisine. It is most always performed on Saturday nights and reservations are required. It is not located within the theme park, but is part of the Loews Royal Pacific Resort at Universal Orlando. It is very similar to Disney's Spirit of Aloha Show.
Wantilan Luau
Attending the Wantilan Luau is one of several perks you may want to take advantage of while staying at Loews Royal Pacific Resort at Universal Orlando. This Orlando dinner show features hula dancers, live music from the islands, fire dancers and an all-you-can-eat buffet. It has a limited schedule and is performed outdoors, which can prove to be a challenge when fitting it into your vacation.
When to See This Orlando Dinner Show
The Hawaiian dinner show is only performed on Saturday nights. Universal Studios claims the show is occasionally offered on other nights, however, those dates are rare. Even though it is offered year-round, anyone that has visited Florida in the summer knows the heat & muggy weather alone can prevent people from enjoying any show and dinner, regardless of how great it may be. The best time to experience this Orlando dinner show is during the milder months (September, October, November and March, April, May). The performer are under a roof so cancellations are kept to a minimum, but guests are seated out in the open.
What to Expect at the Wantilan Luau
This Orlando dinner show carries on the theme of its location itself. The Loews Royal Pacific Resort transports guests to the South Pacific with its beautiful surroundings, lush landscape and friendly service. During the luau you’ll experience the same adventure. The evening is set to Hawaiian music performed live. There is traditional hula dancing in which some guests will get to try to learn on stage! While the story-line is not so much a story, per se, the show does elevate to spectacular fire dancers doing what they do best.
There is plenty of food at this Orlando dinner show, and the cost includes non-alcoholic beverages, wine, beer and Mai Tais. Children have a buffet set up for them too! On the menu are several Polynesian favorites, including pit-roasted suckling pig, soy-marinated beef flank steak, Pacific catch of the day, meat carving station, coconut rice, several side dishes, tropical fruits, desserts and more. Be warned, however, as soon as the show is about to start the food is removed.
Dinner Show Ticket Costs
The Wantilan Luau rarely offers discount dinner show tickets. The price is most often the cause of any poor reviews (on Trip Advisor). Adult tickets cost $109 for priority seating and $89 for regular seating. Children ages 3 - 9 cost $59 and $39. Children under 3 years are free. These prices do include gratuity, which is nice, however the 6.5% sales tax nor ticketing fees are not.
If you want alcoholic beverages other than wine, beer, and Mai Tais, be ready to pay a hefty price! Guests report paying as much as $14 for a drink. Another guest complained about not having coffee with dessert. These are popular complaints when reviewing this dinner show. Priority seating is also debatable amongst guests. As with any Orlando dinner show, you need to evaluate how important the evening is as to whether the cost is worth the additional expense.

What the wise guys at Capone's Dinner & Show say about this Disney dinner show:
If you are looking for a nice evening while staying at this resort, the Wantilan Luau dinner show offers great entertainment. Have a little patience and go on a night with great weather. If you don’t care to experience a show, spend your money for a meal at Emeril’s Tchoup Chop. The Asian/Polynesian cuisine alone will create a night to remember!
