Let the Holiday Shopping in Orlando Begin!

Are you gearing up for your holiday shopping in Orlando? Now that Halloween is over, be prepared for an inundation of holiday promotions and commercials. Quite frankly, I was surprised to view only 2 holiday-related commercials on television prior to Halloween. Neither were local stores, but national chain stores.

Shopping in Orlando Keeps Getting Better

If you love to shop and eat (who doesn’t?), keep the Florida Mall on your list of places to go to. This Orlando shopping experience is great now, but will be even better in the coming months.  A complete redesign of the mall’s entrance and an expanded food pavilion are in the works. While you may have to wait a year for everything to be complete, the new food court and mall updates are sure to be worth it.

The former Saks building facing Sand Lake Road will serve as a portion of the area where the new expanded dining experience will be. The number of seats will double with indoor and outdoor options. New dining choices and proven healthy fare restaurants, 16 in all, will be built.

This new food pavilion will span 105,000 square feet. To assist with this expanded feature, the mall’s entrance is being redesigned to provide better customer flow into the mall and dining area. Small shops and restaurants near this area are sure to be a shopper’s favorite.

Being able to dine and shop make it easy for families to enjoy a mall experience. This past fall the new Build-A-Bear Workshop opened inside the Florida Mall which allows families to create memories as well as a very interactive stuffed animal. Later this fall, the first American Girl store will open. It will be the only location in Orlando for this popular retail store.

Build-A-Bear at the Florida Mall

Once the new food pavilion is in place, the old food court will be repositioned to make room for new retail stores. “We have great demand for any space at the Florida Mall,” said Brian Hanson, general manager of Florida Mall, “so the ability to reposition existing space and create new mini-anchors, stores, and restaurants is a fantastic opportunity for us to even better serve our shoppers.”

You don’t have to wait until next year to enjoy the experience of shopping in Orlando. There are plenty of great stores and eateries at the Florida Mall now. Be sure to check out the deals and discounts online before you go. You’re bound to find something you want or need. It could be as simple as a quick meal or dessert treat.

The Florida Mall is located at 8001 S. Orange Blossom Trail, Orlando, FL 32809.

Fun Places for Orlando Shopping

Orlando, Florida is one of the most popular vacation destinations in the United States. People go to Orlando to enjoy its warm weather, live entertainment, water parks, and theme parks. Orlando is also known for its wide variety of shops. Orlando shopping is one of the favorite activities of tourists and locals. Shopping in Orlando is almost as fun as touring the attractions. Orlando is a great place to look for designer goods that you cannot find back home or souvenirs to take back home to your family and friends. Here you will find a list of some of the most fun places that you can include in your Orlando shopping tour.

The Mall at Millenia

One of the most popular malls in Orlando is The Mall at Millenia. This mall features plenty of high-end stores and mid-priced shops. You can buy diamonds at Tiffany’s, try out shoes at Jimmy Choo, check out the latest bags, accessories, and apparel at Betsey Johnson, and pick up the latest iPod or iPhone at the Apple Store. Department stores such as Bloomingdales and Neiman Marcus can also be found inside The Mall at Millenia. If you get hungry while shopping, you can dine at one of the mall’s full service restaurants. You can also enjoy specialty martinis at Blue Martini, a martini lounge that offers sweet tea-, candied apple-, espresso-, smores-, and key lime pie-flavored martinis. The Mall at Millenia is located at 4200 Conroy Road in Orlando, FL.

Downtown Disney

Downtown Disney

If you are shopping with your kids, then take them to Downtown Disney for a fun shopping experience. The largest Disney store in the world, World of Disney, is found in Downtown Disney. Famous shops such as the Curl by Sammy Duvall, Basin, House of Blues, and Orlando Harley Davidson can be found in Downtown Disney. Downtown Disney is located at 1590 E Buena Vista Dr in Lake Buena Vista, FL.

Epcot World Showcase

Epcot’s World Showcase

Another fun place that you can include in your Orlando shopping tour is Epcot’s World Showcase in Walt Disney World. This unique shopping destination is made up of 11 different pavilions. Each pavilion represents a different country and sells merchandise from that country. For example, the Japan pavilion offers Japanese products such as paper parasols and the Moroccan pavilion offers carpets and mosaic tiles. Each pavilion is also themed to the country that they represent and features cast members that come from those countries. Epcot’s World Showcase is a great place to look for souvenirs at the end of your Orlando shopping tour. Epcot’s World Showcase is located at 1200 Epcot Resort Blvd in Lake Buena Vista, FL.

Best Places for Tourists to Shop in Orlando

There are a ridiculous number of places for tourists to shop in Orlando. Unfortunately I can’t cover them all, so I’ll tell you my two favorites in two categories.

Shop in Orlando Malls

This one is easy. My top choice is Florida Mall. It’s the largest in the region and has many stores that aren’t available in other area malls such as Nordstrom’s. There is a great variety of choices from low-end Sears and J.C. Penney to mid- and high-end retailers. A little north of Florida Mall on Sand Lake Road is one of my favorite bargain stores Old Time Pottery. They offer a huge variety of household items at really low prices. You do have to hunt, however.

My second choice is the Mall at Millenia which is a beautiful mall with great dining options available as well. This mall is a high-end mall and much smaller than Florida Mall. The area around it offers numerous additional shopping and dining options. Rack Room Shoes located to the east of the Super Target is a real find if you’re looking for shoes. Their prices are reasonable and the selection is incredible (they carry a lot of shoes in ‘wide’ for men which is great for me).

Shop in Orlando at the Mall at Millenia

Orlando Outlet Shopping

Another category is outlet shopping. I’ll be honest, this one is very tough to pick a favorite. The Premium Outlets in Lake Buena Vista and off of International Drive are the best in the area. They do have a lot of the same stores but they each have stores unique to Orlando.

Other Orlando Shopping Options

I’m not going to rate any flea markets, be it tourist or local, because I refuse to shop at them. Since others do like them, you can find one of the best lists of flea markets here.

If you prefer to experience a small-town market, check out the Winter Park farmer’s market. Browse the nearby shops on Park Avenue. The area is truly delightful.
