Lake Buena Vista Dinner Options Coming in 2015

Just up the road from Capone’s Dinner & Show is Lake Buena Vista where Disney Springs will be located. As was the Village Marketplace, Pleasure Island, West Side – or whatever name you know it as, the new Disney Springs will be a great area to dine at. You may, however, have a difficult time choosing which restaurant to go to!

The multimillion-dollar redevelopment project will include about 150 venues and 2 parking garages (with 6,000 spaces). It began construction in early 2013 and is projected to be complete in 2016. However, as phases are being completed, several venues and restaurants will be opening this year.

Morimoto Asia

If you have watched “Iron Chef” on television, you’ll want to check out Chef Masaharu Morimoto’s first pan-Asian dining experience. This Lake Buena Vista restaurant will feature a two-story glass entrance, Asian calligraphy facades, terraces, a grand hall, private rooms, cocktail lounge and outdoor dining areas offering a great view of Disney Springs as it comes to life in phases. It is expected to be open in the summer of this year (2015).

The Boathouse Waterfront

The Boathouse

Cedar Plank SalmonIn April 2015, the much anticipated restaurant opening of “The Boathouse” is expected. The menu from Gibson’s Steakhouse will include steaks, chops and seafood. It will have three bars, including two that stick out over the water! The Captain’s Raw Bar and the Dock Bar are sure to be late-night hot spots. With live music and all of the boats coming and going, this is going to be great for Disney Guests.

Much like Capone’s, this location will be considered an attraction as well as a restaurant. The upscale Disney dining experience will feature 28 dream boats from the ‘30s, ‘40s and ‘50s. There will also be Amphicar tours of Disney Springs! Imagine a car driving on land and cruising through the water… Oh yeah, these were made from 1962 to 1967 – but this will be the first opportunity many people will be able to see and ride in them. What a great experience!

The water aspect of Disney Springs also includes plans for a 40-foot wooden Italian Water Taxi. Enjoy champagne and chocolate-covered strawberries during this tour. If you enjoy daily bugle calls and flag ceremonies, a steamboat harbor master will be conducting them throughout the day as well. Like any good Orlando attraction, a gift shop will carry custom paddles, photography, boat crew costume attire and other souvenirs.

STK Orlando

Just recently another restaurant was announced for arrival in Disney Springs in 2015. STK Orlando is a modern steakhouse which will feature a 14,000-foot dining space with two dining floors and a rooftop dining venue! With a lounge and DJ, this could also draw a late-night crowd. More details about this new Orlando restaurant are sure to follow.

Until these new restaurants open, come see a Kissimmee dinner show near Lake Buena Vista – Capone’s Dinner & Show. Open for over 20 years, this popular dinner attraction offers something for everyone. A large Italian buffet, plenty of action during the show and at a discounted attraction ticket price.

Disney’s dinner shows have a little more competition from within now that the new Trattoria al Forno restaurant is open. Disney’s Boardwalk resort opened the new Italian Restaurant near Kissimmee earlier this month. While there is no formal show offered, the restaurant itself is quite a showcase. It has a story to tell all its own.

Everything that was imagined while preparing for this new restaurant (see earlier post) has come to fruition. With everything brand new, the quality and detail of Trattoria al Forno truly makes this a spectacular place to dine at Disney. The open kitchen and family-friendly dining rooms (there are four distinct dining rooms) weave a story all their own. Add in the vintage family photos, brick walls and aged keystone medallion anchors, and you’ll feel as if you’ve been transported to an Italian countryside farm.

While the setting follows the story of an Italian family’s modest tavern and boarding house on the boardwalk which expands over the years into a popular restaurant, it is the menu that completes the show. The mix of authentic and innovative dishes seem to have been handed down, with each generation adding their own touches to the delicious meals. A few of the dishes to try include:

  • Neapolitan-style pizzas
  • Veal Marsala from Sicily
  • Spaghetti alla Carbonara from Lazio
  • Parmigiano Reggiano from Emilio-Romagna
  • Risotto from Lombardy
  • 16-ounce T-bone steak Served Florentine-style
  • Braised Beef Bolognese

For breakfast try something a little different (traditional American dishes are also offered):

  • Waffles with Espresso-mascarpone Cream
  • Caramel Apple Crumb Pancakes
  • Poached Eggs with Fennel Sausage
  • Parmesan and Tomato Gravy over Soft Polenta

As with any great Italian restaurant, a fine wine menu is offered. Trattoria al Forno offers a 100% Italian wine list, including nearly 70 wines from Italy’s 20 wine regions. Don’t worry if you are not familiar with some of the wines. A description for every single wine is included along with the region and grape variety! For those not wanting to drink wine, signature cocktails, Italian beers, a signature-blend Italian coffee and sodas are also included in the beverage menu.

Trattoria al Forno is open from 7:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. for breakfast, and 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. for dinner. They are one of the Disney restaurants that accepts the Disney Dining Plan. For reservations, call 407-WDW-DINE or go to www.disneyworld.com/dine.
