Disney’s Renovation of Fantasyland at the Magic Kingdom Orlando

A major renovation of Fantasyland has been in the planing stages for some time now, but now Disney has begun hiring contractors for the massive renovation. Starting in early 2012 Disney plans on opening it’s new Little Mermaid attraction and Pixie Hollow a new meet and greet area for Disney’s various fairies and princeses to interact with guests.

While Universal Orlando prepares to open it’s newest theme park within a theme park, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in the coming weeks. The appeal at Universal Orlando’s expansion will be mainly aimed at boys.

Disney’s revamp of Fantasyland will be going after the girls. It should be interesting for families with boys and girls begining in 2012 with options for both girls and boys at Orlando’s two premier attractions. Start saving now or plan a trip this year to see the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and then plan on early 2012 to visit or revist the Magic Kingdom at the Walt Disney World Resort.

Walt Disney World is replacing the offer of a free ticket on your birthday with work a day of community service and get a free day at any one of it’s theme parks. This is great because you and your gang can all work together on a day for one of the approved charities such as Habitat for Humanity and everyone gets a free Disney ticket. So not only are you doing good, you’re getting rewarded by Disney for that community service! This offer runs till the end of 2010 so you better get hopping and pick the charity of your choice and do a day of  good for your community.

I applaud the folks at Disney for this fantastick offer.  It helps you afford a vacation and it helps others in need. You get a free day at a Disney theme park while doing good for others it’s truly a win win deal.

The Holidays are Here! If Your Visiting Orlando Here are Some Helpful Tips

Visiting Orlando during the busiest time of the year can be frustrating to say the least. Every northern transportation option into Orlando can be  risky because of the weather in northern cities  which can lead to vast airline delays, disrupting your Orlando vacation. The thing is it’s the most  fabulous time of year to visit Orlando, so this is one of the few periods I would recomend purchasing travel insurance.

Because it is Orlando’s busiest period of the year navigating your visit can make the difference between a joyful or stressful vacation. As a tourism insider in Orlando for over twenty years I have some tips for your vacation to make it a cherished memory.

Depending upon where your staying makes a big difference in how much time it takes you to get you where you want to go. Waiting for Disney transportation is awful, unless you are staying in one of their most costly hotels, the traffic on roads leading to any of the tourist spots is typically bad depending on when you leave your hotel or motel and I know you don’t want to spend your vacation stuck in traffic.

If you are staying on Disney property which is the largest hotelier in the Orlando metropolitan area. Avoid the early admission days as it’s very popular which translates into longer waits to board the buses if your not staying in one of the hotels on the monorail system. Also the monorail system is very old and has had multiple incidents recently. The answer to Disney transportation issues is to avoid the heaviest traffic times like after the fireworks end, leave early for the parks on the days that early admission isn’t offered, and  sleep late on those days when it is not offered .

Hotels and motels off Disney property include International Dr ive, Orlando South Kissimmee Resort area, and Universal Studios offering a limited number of rooms. Depending upon where you wish to visit while in Orlando will make a huge difference in transportation times and also save some cash.

If your primarily visiting Universal Orlando, Sea World and many other International Drive Resort area attractions. You can stay at Universal but it will be expensive due to the limited number of rooms on property and you will encounter the same transportation wait issues as at Walt Disney World. The International Drive Resort area comprised of indepently owned hotels and motels is the areas largest pool of hotel and motel options. Pick a property that offers free transportation and save the fifteen dollars a day parking cost at both Universal Orlando and the Walt Disney World resort.

The remaing option is staying in the Orlando South Resort area Kissimmee if you’re primarily visiting the Walt Disney World Resort. Transportation back from the Parks after the fireworks will be your biggest transportation issue. You have a large selection of economy motels, new franchise hotels and motels in the Orlando South Kissimmee Resort area. One of Orlando’s nicest hotels is the Gaylord Palms and it’s located in the Orlando South Kissimmee Resort Area. There are numerous mom and pop motels which can be a real bargain but with older motels be aware some are kept up nicely but there are some dives so if you decide to stay in the Orlando South Kissimmee Resort Area use one of the travel sites to ensure the quality you will get. I know this is repetative but pick a hotel or motel that offers transportation to the Walt Disney World Resort, many also offer transportation to International Drive Resort area attractions and some even have airport transportation. It also will save you cash with about every franchise restaurant there is. Satying at The Walt Disney World Resort will cost you more money on dining and just about everything else you need to buy on vacation. If you’re mainly planing on visiting the Walt Disney World Resort attractions unless you stay at a high end Disney hotel the Orlando South Kissimmee Resort area will offer the least traffic problems, save you money and give you freedom.

My personal choice is to rent a car for most of your transportation needs as it gives you much more flexibility and there are so many other things in Orlando that you will want to see. Al Puts the Spotlight on Orlando’s Magic Kingdom

Hey yous Al here and you better read my writing or yous just might find yourself in cement shoes at the bottom of lake Michigan. Just kidding  really I’m a very generous and hospitable guy so no worries.

The Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World drastically changed Orlando forever the great Walt Disney was the visionary that made it happen, what a shame he didn’t live long enough to see his dream. The second park at Walt Disney World EPCOT was in the early planning when he died. Although it didn’t match his exact early ideas the basic principal and many aspects of the park were his.

In recent years and always moving forward the imagineers at Disney have been continuously working to make the Magic Kingdom the Grand Dame of Orlando theme parks as relevant and enjoyable as when it first opened. Countless older attractions at the park have been updated with the newest technology and innovation meeting the desires of the ever more tech savvy kids of today.

Another nice thing about the Magic Kingdom is that it offers something for everyone. So if you have teens and younger children you can let the teens go do their own thing for a while, if you are comfortable with this. The Magic Kingdom has always provided a safe enviorment. Your kids are more likely to get hurt on a ride (that rarely happens) then be the object of foul play.

Al says take the kids to Disney World they’ll have a blast

The Magic Kingdom holds the throne for the most visitors annualy in the United States and has done so for many, many years. So if you go here are some tips for maximizing your visit. If you go to the park in the morning be sure and use the monorail for the fastest access from the ticketing to the park. Depending upon what time you leave the park and how large the crowds are leaving at the same time Al suggests you might want to take the ferry from the park to ticketing center and parking. None of yous bone heads better make any cracks about Al capone and the ferry. It can be faster if crowds are heavy as the monorails will be jamed after fireworks. It’s also a nice way to end your day riding a period reproduction of a very large ferry boat on a gorgeous lake. Even if it’s not busy when yous are leaving it’s a relaxing way to end your day at the parks,
