New Reasons to Visit Orlando in 2019

Visit Orlando (official tourism association) has come up with 19 new reasons to visit Orlando in 2019. However, we’d like to round it up to 20 new reasons to visit Orlando (even though it isn’t 2020 yet). We want to add Capone’s Dinner & Show to the list!

No, we are NOT new. In fact, we’ve been entertaining audiences with our hilarious Orlando dinner show for over 25 years. However, we’re still new to many tourists that come to visit this area. We also added a new script in 2017. So for many guests that haven’t been to Capone’s recently, our show will be new to them. Besides, with all of the audience interaction, every show feels like an original.

There are a lot of new fun things to do in Orlando this year. We agree with Visit Orlando. The following is their list which includes the other 19 new reasons to visit Orlando in 2019…

ORLANDO, Fla., Dec. 11, 2018 — Orlando, Theme Park Capital of the World®, will have even more character in 2019 with the launch of new theme park thrills, adventures beyond the theme parks, and all-new places to stay, play and dine. WWE Event at Mango’s Dinner Show in October

If you enjoy wrestling entertainment and are a fan of “Hollywood” Hulk Hogan, the WWE event at Mango’s dinner show is for you. Prepare yourself for leg drops, clotheslines, and cheap shots. This event, being tagged as the “Epic NWO Reunion,” will also feature wrestling superstars Kevin Nash and Scott Hall. The knock out followed by a Q & A session happens Saturday, October 27, 2018, from 12 pm – 3 pm.

In contrast, Mango’s Tropical Café usually has live stage entertainment featuring tributes to Michael Jackson, Selena, Joan Jett and others. Instead, on October 27th, the main event at Mango’s dinner show will showcase WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment). A wrestling ring with brawn, sweat, wrestling antics and big personalities will fill the venue. Mango’s Orlando accommodates up to 2,000 guests. Who knows how many fans will show up on this particular afternoon. The venue will no doubt host a cheering crowd. Add to it the venue’s party-like atmosphere and this event is sure to be “2Sweet.”

WWE Event at Mango’s Dinner Show

Hogan will Headline the Event at Mango’s Dinner Show

Hulk Hogan was the WWE’s #1 draw in the world for over a decade. The event at Mango’s Dinner Show will reunite the “iconic New World Order” to the delight of millions of fans around the world. The smackdown will most likely be featured far beyond the International Drive dinner show on the WWE Network.

Furthermore, Hogan was recently reinstated back into the WWE Hall of Fame after a 3-year suspension. Perfect timing to spark life back into WWE’s long-term fans. Speculation gave way to a fevered pitch when Hogan recently tweeted, “October 27th is the biggest day ever, history will be made again in the world of wrestling, 2Sweet HollyWood Hogan 4 Life.”

Mango’s Tropical Café Attraction

This afternoon entertainment event at Mango’s dinner show is unique. Mango’s Orlando usually features shows Monday through Wednesday at 7 pm. Thursday through Sunday, there are two shows; one at 6 pm and one at 9 pm. While it claims to be family-friendly, if you have children, go to the early show. There are plenty of visuals to keep the young one’s interest even before the adult nightlife atmosphere fully kicks in.

In the future, you can expect to see more concerts and celebrity appearances at this I-Drive attraction area. Hollywood Plaza, an art deco $30M entertainment complex, adjacent to Mango’s Tropical Café, is set to open “soon.” It will feature a rooftop restaurant at 140’ with 25’ vaulted ceilings. Above all, this addition will add more much-needed parking for this nightlife and entertainment experience in Orlando.

Information and Tickets

Mango’s Tropical Café in Orlando opened in 2015. Read our previous post and earlier post. It is located at 8126 International Drive, Orlando, FL 32819. For more information, hours of operation, booking inquiries, menus and more, visit www.mangos.com or call 407-673-4422.

The top 100 highest bidders will receive VIP tickets that include priority seating, a picture with the wrestlers and more.

In contrast, if ‘skinning the cat’ is not your cat’s meow, there is another Orlando dinner show option just down the road. The gang at Capone’s Dinner & Show does not perform curb stomps, chop blocks or wind-up punches, but it does deliver a great entertainment takedown and an ending that will knock your socks off! Shows are performed nightly* at 7:30 p.m. and tickets are available online at half price. Read more about this Orlando dinner show.

In closing, the wise guys and gals at Capone’s Dinner & Show wish Hogan well. We believe this history-making wrestling event will be a success. May it even be “2Sweet.” Here’s to another signature finishing move!

Mardi Gras Time in Orlando

With Fat Tuesday on February 13th this year, Mardi Gras events at Universal Studios are in full swing now through April 7, 2018. You can “catch the beads, catch the music, catch the spirit” without going to New Orleans! It’s a party the entire family will enjoy.

New this year: New floats representing a celestial theme. Performers are available before the parade for meet and greet/photo opportunities. Atmospheric music piped into the park.

Previously the Orlando theme park celebrated this event only on the weekends. This year the celebration happens every night. You can catch beads and doubloons by the handful as the spectacular parade winds its way through the park with dazzling floats, colorful costumes, towering stilt walkers, entertaining street performers and dancers. Many of the floats are professionally built by Blaine Kern Studios, who have been creating Mardi Gras floats in New Orleans for over 60 years.

Mardi Gras in Orlando

Mardi Gras Parade

The parade happens at Universal Studios every night in which the Mardi Gras event is held. The parade starts about an hour before the headline concert. Between 5:15 and 7:45 p.m. However, if you want a good spot for the parade, it is not unlikely for people to line the parade route a couple hours prior to the start. Concert lines can start as early as the morning of the event!

Skip the crowds, parades and Mardi Gras altogether…

Purchase Capone’s Dinner Show Tickets!

Since adults will be adults, if you are attending this event with small children, you may want to stay close to the Little Jester’s Parade viewing area which is located in front of the Brown Derby Hat Shop (near the Terminator 2: 3-D attraction). Avoid the Music Plaza area as this is where people line up for the concert and can get a little crazy. Fun if you’re an adult. Not so fun if you are a parent with an inquisitive child.

Mardi Gras Entertainment

Some big names in music will be performing live at the Universal Music Plaza stage. There is also live music in the French Quarter section of the theme park, as well as authentic Cajun cuisine. I can hear the Zydeco music and taste the Jambalaya already!

2018 Concerts include:

  • Feb. 3: Sean Paul
  • Feb. 10: The Beach Boys
  • Feb. 17: Kelsea Ballerini
  • Feb. 18: Andy Grammer
  • Feb. 24: Macklemore
  • March 3: 311
  • March 4: Phillip Phillips
  • March 10: T.B.A.
  • March 11: Fitz and the Tantrums
  • March 17: Foreigner
  • March 18: Fifth Harmony
  • March 24: T.B.A.
  • March 25: Bush

After you’ve caught all the beads and listened to some great live music, continue the party at Universal CityWalk on Mardi Gras event nights. Your Universal Studios theme park ticket or Annual Pass gets you FREE admission to several unique clubs and bars (provided you’re at least 21 years of age). CityWalk is open every night until 2:00 am.

Additionally, Mardi Gras is included with your Universal Studios admission or annual pass. They have on-site hotel deals as well as Florida resident tickets and specials. Check their website for more information www.universalorlando.com.

Other Mardi Gras – Fat Tuesday Options

If you are not the type to attend a major theme park on Fat Tuesday, but still want to get out and do something fun, there are other options. Downtown Orlando will have its share of parties as well as many other bars around town. If you feel like taking a drive, go to New Smyrna Beach. Spend a day at the beautiful beach and stay for the Mardi Gras parade (mentioned here in another post). It really is a fun time. Of course, in Kissimmee, you can’t go wrong by attending a dinner show like Capone’s.

When you’re not at Universal Studios enjoying Mardi Gras, Capone’s Dinner & Show would like to invite you to the most enjoyable dinner theatre in Central Florida. Read our reviews and comments. Our live stage production is enjoyed by all ages and will have you dancing and singing and having a great time before you enter the theater. Tickets are half price when you purchase them online. Save a night for Capone’s Dinner & Show. It’s a blast!

Happy Earth Day! Are You Doing Your Part?

The creation of Earth Day, which started in 1970, is widely considered to be the beginning of the modern environmental movement. The goal was, and still is to increase awareness regarding our environment. It is a great way to urge people into action to do everything they can to help save our planet.  There are several local events taking place in Central Florida. The beautiful Lake Eola in downtown Orlando often serves as a venue for groups to hold awareness events. They commonly include a variety of vendors, as well as guest speakers and live music.

Earth Day at Our Local Theme Parks & Attractions

Our local theme parks are also very involved in Earth Day. Walt Disney World regularly supports volunteer efforts. Their “voluntEARS” are often found around the community gathering trash and debris from our lakes and neighborhoods. Disney fans also have several ways to celebrate Earth Day during the park-wide celebration called “Party for the Planet.” Learn what you can do to make your back yard wildlife-friendly and discover other ways to conserve wildlife and help our environment.  Special entertainment is usually included in this Earth Day event.

Busch Gardens Tampa Bay hosts an annual Earth Day event. Learn about animals, nature, and how you can make an impact on the world around you. Meet the keepers and learn about gorillas, cheetahs, lions and orangutans while they enjoy Earth Day-themed treats. Plus, learn about some of Busch Gardens’ special projects like composting and recycling, the Rising Tide Conservation project and the Tampa Bay Watch Oyster Restoration project.

Another place in Orlando to for Earth Day events is at the Orlando Science Center. Earth Day vendors provide themed exhibits and information about topics like beach cleanup, recycling, water conservation, shark and bat conservation, invasive species, the environment and more! Enjoy live animal interactions and feedings in NatureWorks and get crafty with some up-cycling activities! Orlando Science Center’s Earth Day Party for the Planet is included with general admission.

Easy Ways for You to Help the Environment

The wise guys would like for you to consider how you can do your part in helping conserve and protect our planet. Here are 5 easy areas to help the environment in your part of the world.

  • Water Use: Opt for reusable water bottles; repair a leaky faucet; take shorter showers with a low flow shower head; cover your pool when it’s not in use.
  • Fuel Consumption: Leave your car at home. Walk or ride your bike to work, school and anywhere you can. You’ll be healthier for it!
  • Recycle. Take advantage of any recycling program your area offers. If it doesn’t offer one, look at ways you can do your own recycling (it can be a great money-maker for kids).
  • Compost. Spend less on mulch and use your own yard’s waste. Also, do not bag your grass clippings. Your yard will love having the nutrients put back into it!
  • Electricity: Turn off lights and other electrical devices when you don’t need them. The savings will benefit your pocketbook!

Disney World’s Holiday Events

Disney World’s holiday events start earlier than most other Orlando theme parks and attractions. During this time of the year, it truly is magical. Be sure to get a multi-park pass and plan on spending time in each park. Each has something special to offer.

After spending a day at the theme parks, be sure to save a night for Capone’s Dinner & Show. It is the best dinner show value you will experience in Orlando!
