It’s time to mark your calendars for the upcoming fall season of art festivals. It’s easy to get involved with other fun things to do in the Orlando area and realize all too late that a fantastic art festival happened and you missed it! There are 4 festivals coming up in the Central Florida area, so mark your calendars now. You’ll want to hit at least one of these fabulous displays of extraordinary talent.

  • September 30 – October 2: 55th Annual Maitland Rotary Art Festival
  • October 8-9: Winter Park Autumn Art Festival
  • October 14 – October 23: 2011 Art of Sand Festival
  • November 5-6: 25th Annual Lake Mary-Heathrow Festival of the Arts

Maitland Art Festival55th Annual Maitland Rotary Art Festival
September 30 – October 2
This art festival is held around the beautiful Lake Lily in Maitland and features nearly 150 exhibitors. Evening events take place as well as daytime entertainment – be sure to enjoy the full symphonic orchestra on Saturday night. Parking can be a hassle, so plan on bringing an additional $5 to pay for a little convenience and enter from the north side of Maitland Ave. Bikes, skateboards and pets are not permitted. As with other festivals, a good selection of food and beverages will be offered.

Winter Park Autumn Art Festival
October 8-9
This art festival is held in beautiful Central Park located along historic Park Avenue in downtown Winter Park. It is held annually and is the only juried art show to feature Florida artists exclusively.  Prepare to do some shopping at this festival since the entire community gets involved and the shops offer some great items in their sidewalk sales. Enjoy live entertainment, children’s activities and more.  Parking is offered nearby or at the Winter Park Village.

2011 Art of Sand Festival
October 14 – October 23
Held at the Space Coast Stadium in Viera, FL, this festival is a little different from most art festivals in the area. It features breathtaking, one-of-a-kind sand sculptures – some stand up to 18 feet tall and weigh close to ten tons. Approximately 15 master sculptors from around the world are expected to participate this year. The festival will also include hands-on activities for children, sand sculpting contests, opportunities to watch and speak with master sculptors and much more.

25th Annual Lake Mary-Heathrow Festival of the Arts
November 5-6
This Festival is recognized as a premiere, juried art and craft show that combines first class entertainment with world class art and craft exhibits. It kicks off the holiday shopping season providing extraordinary offerings from artisans and crafters. Prepare to take something home and enjoy the arts, crafts, family activities, food and fun.

With Florida’s beautiful weather this time of year, it is tailor-made to be a fitting host of a collection of the best art fairs in the country. Make a point to attend one or more of these art festivals and show your support of fine art, fun craft shows and the working artists who make them possible. Mark your calendars now!
