We sure are enjoying the cooler weather. It is a perfect time of year for an outdoor concert, and right now Bok Tower Gardens is selling tickets to their annual Sunset & Symphony event. Held Saturday, November 5, at the Lake Wales landmark, this occasion is known for its Singing Tower, elaborate picnics, the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra and an Instrument Petting Zoo.

The Instrument Petting Zoo begins at 4:30 p.m. and encourages participants to “pet” or try out various instruments. Musicians from the Orlando Philharmonic will assist and answer any questions you might have about the “zoo.” Also at this time pre-concert entertainment featuring ZEROtailo, a world-beat percussion ensemble will perform. Then at 6:00 p.m., the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra will take the stage with their award-winning music from “Around the World.”

Probably the most popular event at this Fall concert is the picnic contest. Some folks sure know how to picnic! Bok Towers will award prizes for Most Elegant, Most Original and Best Fall Themed picnic. Winners will be announced during intermission. If you don’t care to participate in the contest, or bring your own fixin’s, you can pre-order boxed picnic selections from the Blue Palmetto Café by calling 863-676-1355. Food and drinks are also available for sale at the Hilltop Café concession during the event.

Advance tickets are $20 ($8 for ages 5-12); day of event admission is $25 ($10 ages 5-12). Children under 5 are free.
