Antique radio imageIf you enjoy craft shows, this event is for you. If you are interested in antiques and collectibles, even better! This fun two-day, open-air event is located in historic Mount Dora and draws thousands of visitors each Spring. Formerly the Mount Dora Antiques & Trades Fair, the Spring Antiques, Collectibles & Crafts Show is sponsored by the Visit Mount Dora organization. To clarify, this is NOT the annual Mount Dora Art Festival that is held the first weekend in February every year, but a version focusing more on antiques, collectibles and crafts.

This will be the 15th annual show and approximately 200 booths are expected including some of the finest vendors in the area. While most vendors will be selling their treasures, some items will only be for show. Some of these antiques and collectibles are one-of-a-kind and a treat to see. This is one of the reasons this show stands out from the other local arts and crafts shows – that and the rich history that Mount Dora offers.

Image of Antique syrup containerMount Dora is in Lake County, about an hour drive from downtown Orlando. This small community features several mom-and-pop stores, quaint restaurants/cafes and Victorian bed & breakfast inns. You’ll also find vintage collectibles, clothing, wine, gourmet foods, unique gifts and art galleries. The streets are lined with antique and specialty shops in buildings dating back to the early 1900s. A couple of my favorite places to dine are the Goblin Market and Pisces Rising. You may also want to check out One Flight Up Cafe, Maggie’s Attic, Mt. Dora Sushi or Chew Chew Express.

As always, Capone’s Dinner & Show supports the arts of all types. It is our hope that this festival have great weather and a fantastic turn-out. Small town communities have been hit hard by the economy, yet recently, more and more people are spending money on art and luxury items. Let’s hope they attend the Mount Dora Spring Antiques, Collectibles & Crafts Show ready to shop and spend!

Tip: Leave your best furry friend at home. By City ordinance, PETS ARE NOT ALLOWED at this event. Too bad, because Mount Dora has some great shops just for the little pawed ones.
