If you are looking for something fun to do this weekend, you have many choices of events being held. Of course, going to an event should be secondary to shopping for your Halloween costume! Capone’s Dinner & Show costume contest is only a few days away on Thursday, October 31st. Get your costume shopping and planning all wrapped up on Saturday, and use Sunday for a little fun.

$5 Admission Day at the Orlando Science Center

Sesame Street exhibit

If you have children, the Orlando Science Center is the place to have fun this Sunday, October 20th. Admission is only $5! Regular admission is $19/adult and $13/child, so this is a significant savings. The newest traveling exhibit at the center is “Sesame Street Presents the Body.” Two other new permanent exhibits are “Imagination Playground” and “Jurassic Ridge.” The Orlando Science Center is a fun thing to do no matter what, and is perfect for days when the weather doesn’t cooperate. For more information, go to OSC.org or call 407-514-2000.

Free Combat Day at Hard Knocks

Combat Day at Hard Knocks

For adults, a fun thing to do this Sunday is to head over to International Drive and participate in a “Free Combat Day”  at Hard Knocks. Hard Knocks is an indoor Combat Sports facility that goes beyond laser tag. Here you can participate in several missions that will require you to rescue hostages, defuse bombs and eradicate the enemy. Although this is a “free” event, you are required to have a membership card which costs $5.99 (good for one year).

This will be the 7th Annual Free Combat Day (FCD), however, the first for this location. Hours for this fun event will be 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Pointe Orlando location. It’s not “unlimited” combat, however, each participant will go on at least three missions at the simulated-warfare attraction. Participants are warned to expect a crowd as many people will line up a couple of hours prior to the start for this free event. For details check out the event on Facebook.

If you are in the hospitality industry and enjoy Hard Knocks, be sure to sign up for their “Hunger Games” tournament being held on November 17, 2013. Volunteers from hospitality companies in the Orlando area (1 male and 1 female from each company) will be selected as Tributes. They will receive one week of unlimited free combat to train prior to the tournament. There will be prizes for the winning hospitality company as well as a single winner prize.

Hard Knocks has 2 Orlando locations, East Orlando (near UCF) and Pointe Orlando (on International Drive). For more information go to IndoorWar.com.

Be sure to get your shopping done early and enjoy these fun things to do on Sunday. Remember, Capone’s Dinner & Show is open every night of the week and the show is ALWAYS something fun to do! If you have a hospitality event that you would like to share with our Guest Service Representatives, be sure to let us know. We’ll post it for our reps to read about on GuestServiceEvents.com.
