Despicable Me Minion Mayhem

While Capone’s Dinner and Show transports its guests back to 1930 gangland Chicago, a new attraction at Univeral Studios Orlando will transform guests into yellow-skinned, goggle-eyed “minions.” It all begins today as the Orlando theme park celebrates the grand opening of its newest ride.

Despicable Me Minion Mayhem, is a 3-D motion simulator ride based on the 2010 animated film “Despicable Me.” It features “minions” — little yellow goggled creatures — along with gruff Gru and his three adopted daughters. It’s popularity is guaranteed to continue because of a sequel to the film set to open next summer.

If you are not familiar with the film, don’t worry. The ride is still a great adventure. Your experience begins as you enter Gru’s home, where you’ll learn that your being recruited to become a minion and undergo “minion training.” Things don’t go as planned, and you will find yourself on a wildly hysterical journey with Gru and his daughters. Once you make it through training, you’ll join an interactive, minion-inspired dance party where you can show off your best moves.

Minion Mayhem replaces Jimmy Neutron’s Nicktoon Blast and joins Universal Studio’s new parade and evening lagoon show that have also been added this year. All efforts have been made to gear up for the annual summer travel rush and this park has really done it up!

Feel free to share your experience about Universal’s new ride by adding a comment to this story. Once you’ve been transformed into a yellow-skinned, goggle-eyed “minion,” we’d like to invite you to spend a night at Capone’s Dinner & Show. During our show, you’ll be able to see some of our dance moves, sit back, relax, eat a nice meal and be entertained in true 3-D!
