It seems wine tastings and festivals are in full swing in Central Florida. From wineries to restaurants to bars, there are plenty of opportunities to sample a variety of vino. While many wine shops hold weekly wine tastings, there are a couple of larger events taking place in the next few weeks.
On Friday, June 3, just up the road from Capone’s Dinner & Show will be the Rombauer Vineyards Perfect Pairings Dinner at the Orlando Gaylord Palms Hotel and Convention Center. Selections of the finest wines from the Rombauer Vineyards in San Francisco, CA will be featured. This is just the half of it for this event. For $85 per person, you will also be treated to an exclusive dinner featuring recipes from Irma Rombauer’s “Joy of Cooking” cookbook. The event takes place at the Old Hickory Steakhouse at the Gaylord Palms Resort. This restaurant is a world-renowned steakhouse and has been awarded honors for its wine selections. Perhaps you’re looking for more of a family fun-type wine event. If so, you’ll want to head over to the Lakeridge Winery & Vineyards in Clermont from June 17 – 19. This is when their flagship festival will take place with the ever popular event of stomping the grapes. Even the young ones are allowed to participate, making it fun for everyone. During this 3-day event you can view over 80 local arts and crafts booth. Live music will also be performed. There will of course, be wine tastings, as well as beer, soft drinks and food available for purchase. Be sure to go on a tour while you’re there. All of this for only a $2 donation (benefiting Hospice Foundation).
As summer nears, wine connoisseurs can get their fill by watching television too! The “Summer of Wine” broadcast on Central Florida News 13 will host Vino Vino’s Elliott Wiser as local wine bars are covered in Orlando and Tampa. Showcasing their wine list specialties will be The Funky Monkey, Press 101, Vines, Beaune’s, Park Square Cellar and Cafe Ponte. Tune into channel 300 and enjoy!
Finally, if wine isn’t your drink of choice, this Wednesday you can head over to Satellite Beach and take part in ABC Fine Wine and Spirits’ Craft Beer Tasting. There will be over 60 craft beers from around the world to taste and the cost is only $10. This fee also includes a coupon good for that night and a souvenir beer glass.
