It is Friday night and you’re looking to head out on the town with your date. The night is perfect, but the question is where to go? With a wide variety of restaurants and shows across the city, a combination of the two, the traditional dinner and a show, is a great avenue to look into in Orlando. Littered with countless dinner theatres, each pronounces a unique themed social experience that is sure to wow and amaze the audience while often presenting a gourmet meal at the same time. While these dinner shows can be rather expensive, the following dinner and show combinations offer a great time for under $50.

The wonderful aspect of the number of dinner shows in Orlando is the variety and choice awarded to the customers. If you are in the mood for a light-hearted comedy show, Orlando has those. If it is more of an artistic, serene environment that is appealing you that night, Orlando has those too. One mysteriously detected show is the Sleuths Mystery Dinner Show. Offering a number of different mysteries per week, you and your date could manage to indulge in a little secretive adventure for only $30 apiece. [Editor’s note: coupon required. Current regular price is $55.95/person] Entering into one of the theatres, you and your date are transformed into invited guests of the “eccentric characters” in the show, and must look for clues and detect suspicious activities while mingling and munching on appetizers. Dinner, currently a choice of lasagna, Honey-glazed Cornish game hen, or prime rib, and dessert run during collaboration with your table group to solve the mystery and the show ends with the detective revealing the perpetrator. With the added benefit of free parking, this show has much to offer (http://www.sleuths.com/).

Another whimsically exciting dinner show for around the same price is Arabian Nights. Voted “Orlando’s Best Dinner Attraction” by Orlando residents, “this storybook tale of excitement” provides a spectacularly acrobatic show that accommodates the dinner. With more than twenty different acts, many involving horses, the show is sure to astonish (Expedia.com). Included in the $50 dinner and show is a three-course meal with unlimited beer, wine, and soft drinks. [Editor’s note: additional drink package required for unlimited drinks. 25% off internet special price is $50.49/person] Arabian Nights is an exhilarating and eventful show that promises to keep you and your date entertained.

If such a themed and eventful dinner show is not what you are looking for, a mellower, more artistic dinner and show is presented by The Orlando Museum of Art (OMA) the first Thursday of every month. With “café offerings from area restaurants” and new exhibits, the event shows off the best side of art. Free for members of OMA and only $10 for nonmembers, this great event is a fantastic way into glimpsing the best the museum has to offer at a cheap price. Past exhibits this year have included: Sculpture—The Ultimate Process,” “From Robots to Warlocks: Sci-Fi and Fantasy Art in the 21st Century,” and “Fervent for Flora: Art in the Botanical Realm” (http://www.omart.org/programs/1st-thursdays). Each exhibit displays local artists’ work with live music. What better way to spend a relaxing evening?

The Improv Comedy Club & Dinner Theatre is a good destination when seeking a nice laugh over dinner. First established over 40 years ago, this club presents a mesh of local comedians as well as nationally recognized improv comedians such as Robin Williams, Adam Sandler, Jerry Seinfeld, and Drew Carey. While the price of the show varies, an average $20 will buy you tickets to a show and dinner will be included beyond that. Unlike some comedy clubs, this one is small enough that it feels comfortable without being too cramped or alternatively expansive. While the entrance to the club is a little unusual, you enter through a restaurant that is owned by the club, the national headliners do more than enough to prove the worth of checking out this dinner and show (http://theimprovorlando.com/).

While this list provides several types and many different kinds of dinner shows for a relatively cheap price, they are nowhere near the end of dinner theatres in Orlando.

EDITOR’S NOTE: Of course, Capone’s Dinner & Show remains the best value when it comes to Orlando Dinner Shows. You receive an unlimited buffet and more drink choices than any other dinner theater in the Orlando area. Using a coupon or ordering your tickets online can save you half price which will get you into the show well under $50. Your date, on the other hand, may have to help chip in if you’re trying to keep the total evening’s cost under $50. 🙂
