Orlando Area Dinner Shows Remain Closed

Orlando area dinner shows remain closed due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Theaters sit empty. Employees have either been laid off or furloughed. Performers, servers and guest service staff wait eagerly for the return of laughter, cheers, action and guest interaction. How will that look when our beloved dinner shows reopen? Nobody is for certain until there is a vaccination for Covid-19, but here are a few things the wise guys at Capone’s Dinner & Show anticipate.

Buffet Service at Orlando Area Dinner Shows

Prior to the State mandate to shut down mid-March, buffet service at Capone’s had already adapted to a new way of doing things. Instead of guests helping themselves at the buffet, employees assisted guests by dishing out their selections for them. This prevented multiple people from handling utensils. No doubt, traditional buffet service is a thing of the past until a solution for Covid-19 is available to the public.

Orlando area dinner shows Buffet Line

No doubt, buffet service will change for all Orlando area dinner shows and restaurants until a vaccine is available.

Guest Spacing

We also anticipate guests being spread further apart when shows are able to resume. This will be welcomed by some guests who like to distance themselves from other parties. However, those that enjoyed interacting with others next to them or across the table may have to wait for that feature to return. Nevertheless, Capone’s is prepared to meet the capacity standards regardless of the limitations set upon reopening.

Guest Interaction

Guests on stage? We think so! Dance routines may change slightly, but a little Charleston performed 6 feet apart is still entertaining. Guest interaction is still very doable. Our children’s interviews are very popular, and we see no issues continuing with a social distancing segment in the show.

While some other restaurants in Central Florida have adapted with unique services, Orlando area dinner shows will have to wait a little while longer. There is no take-out, no outdoor seating and very little we can do right now other than sell gift cards and wait. We’ve done our part to help stop the spread of the virus, and we’ll continue to protect our guests in the future.

Who knows, this “bug” may see some jitterbug from the wise guys and gals very soon. Until then, wash your ‘flippers’ often, stay home if you’re sick, and know that Al’s gang wishes you well and hopes things are ‘hitting on all eight’ at your joint.

Consistent Service at Capone’s – Meet Vito: Featured Wise Guy

Guest Service Spotlight

There’s nothin’ like visitin’ a restaurant or some speakeasy knowin’ yous gonna receive consistent service. One of the goals at Capone’s Dinner Show is that each guest receives excellent service each time theys visit. That’s why havin’ a pal like Vito ‘round is so important. Yous sees all the dames, servers and wise guys at my speakeasy are special, but this month’s featured ‘pal’ is Vito. He’s been ‘round awhile and delivers consistent service to all my guests.

Meet Vito - Wise Guy (server) at Capone's Dinner & Show

Our guests ‘fall’ for Vito & his excellent, consistent service.

Vito made his way down from New York several years ago. In fact, over 10 years ago he fell into our gang. He falls alot, but more about that later… Vito is an Italian name that is derived from the Latin word “vita,” meaning “life” or “life-giving” which is very fitting. This family name was passed down to Vito from his uncle. What good Italian family doesn’t have a Vito?!

Vito is full of life and loves meeting new people at our Orlando dinner show. He enjoys servin’ guests and hearin’ ‘bout their stories. Sometimes he’s so engrossed with his guests he forgets where he is! That’s okay most of the time, but when it causes him to fall off the stage, it can be a real problem. Yous see, I’m all ‘bout takin’ care of the family, howevers, I ain’t much for workmans comp! These wise guys jus’ need to stay on stage or off of it. Course, when yous up there and all those pretty dancers are puttin’ on a show, it’s easy to fall for them gals. Yous know what I mean?

Consistent Service at Capone’s

Vito knows many repeat offenders – those folks that return to our joint again and again. Yous knows the ones. They have all the answers and know exactly how to get the best seats (either by making their reservations far in advance or bein’ VIP guests).  They’s even been known to call in their reservations and ask to sit in his section! These repeat offenders also bring their cheap souvenirs and wear ‘em over and over again. They’re some of our most beloved guests!

Other palookas that come to my speakeasy for the first time are thrilled to have Vito as their server ‘cuz they get consistent service which encourages them to visit again. All of my wait staff will keep your drinks filled, table clean and make sure yous don’t go yappin’ your jaw with Detective Marvel. After all, we’re all here to meet with Vito’s favorite “Italian Opera Lovers Society,” right?

How to Meet Vito & Get ‘Free’ Dinner Show Tickets!

If you’d like to meet Vito, or any of my wise guys and gals here at Capone’s Dinner & Show, yous can do so with ‘free’ dinner show tickets. Jus’ make your reservations online. All tickets purchased online are half price – it’s like buying one and getting one free, but better ‘cuz everyone gets discounted dinner show tickets! Come to our speakeasy an’ experience consistent service that Vito an’ the entire gang offer every evening. Your family will love the show and bein’ waited on like a high pillow.

Make Reservations

While you’re a guest at Capone’s Dinner & Show, be sure to meet Vito. He’s here nearly every night of the year and makes the show very lively – very Vito. If he’s on stage, watch out! Or better yet, get front row seats and catch him! So’s what’s keepin’ yous from visitin’? Come see my cabaret show, have dinner and spend some time with Vito’s family.

Dinner Show or Orlando Comedy Club?

Comedy is important in our lives. We all need a good laugh now and then. (Read our earlier post about the importance of laughter.) There are many options when it comes to Orlando comedy clubs. Combined with a good meal, an evening out on the town, and you’ll probably have one of the more memorable evenings of your life. Capone’s Dinner & Show offers a lot of comedy in their show. Side-splitting laughter is quite common. However, if an Orlando comedy club is more what you had in mind, rather than a dinner theater, here are some suggestions.

Sak Comedy Lab - Orlando

Orlando Comedy Club Recommendations:

The Improv located on International Drive is very popular with tourists, because of its location having I-Ride Trolley stops (24 north/green 12 south). This Orlando comedy club features a lot of big-name entertainers. It has been a career launching pad for dozens of local comedians. The shows run primarily on the weekends with a few events mixed in on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Many, if not all of their shows are for people over 21 years of age. The menu at the Improv features appetizers, salads, sandwiches, entrees, desserts and beverages (including a full bar). Keep in mind that 18% gratuity is added to every check. Groups can book events at The Orlando Improv.

Bonkerz Comedy Clubs are located throughout the United States. Central Florida is lucky enough to have several locations! Located in East Orlando, Altamonte Springs, Daytona, Oviedo and Deltona, the opportunity to have a hilarious dinner & show won’t be far away. Most tourists seek out the East Orlando comedy club on Colonial Drive. This location is known as the Boardwalk Bowl Entertainment Center. Shows are featured every Friday and Saturday night with a cover charge at $10 (usually). Here again, only adults 21 & over are allowed. Their menu consists of appetizers, sandwiches, burgers, pizza and salads with prices from $6 to $17. A full liquor bar is available. Other events, such as corporate events, bachelor parties, retirements, and girls night out can be held at any of the Bonkerz locations.

Comedy for Families

SAK Comedy Lab is another great place to experience comedy. Of all the comedy clubs in Orlando, this one is least like a dinner show. Their venue is set up theater style with a concession stand for refreshments. The venue is a 200-seat theater located upstairs in downtown Orlando. Shows are held on Tuesday through Saturday nights and are suitable for all ages. Ticket prices run from $5 for some shows to $15 general admission for their popular weekend shows. Furthermore, if you really love improv comedy, you can take classes at SAK. Additionally, you may hire a comedian for your team-building event, or even have a local comedian emcee/host your event.

Create Your Own Dinner & Comedy Experience

Worth Noting: If you are looking more for an Orlando dinner show, yet want to experience the Improv, see the show, then walk to any number of restaurants nearby to dine. Next door is Fat Fish Blue, featuring a menu of Louisiana-Smokehouse cuisine and traditional American favorites. Even more, there are many other restaurants within walking distance worth noting. They are Adobe Gila’s, Itta Bena, Taverna Opa Orlando, Copper Canyon Grill, Marlow’s Tavern and Maggiano’s Little Italy.

While not considered dinner shows, the preceding Orlando comedy clubs combine comedy with dinner options and plenty of laughter. Other places where comedians often perform are at the House of Blues and Hard Rock Orlando. Most locals and tourists still prefer an Orlando dinner show over a comedy club visit. Usually, the food is better, and the entire family can attend.

You can also find laughs in abundance at most Orlando dinner shows. Read this best list of all Orlando Dinner Shows and pick one. That is, of course, if you are not looking to spend an evening at a comedy club. If a late night or adult-only show is what you’d like to experience, any of these comedy clubs will be great for you.

Dinner Show Talent – Not Lacking in Orlando

Orlando’s dinner show talent is extremely gifted. We are definitely not lacking in performers with a lot to offer. With bigger entertainment venues all around Central Florida, dinner theater has a wide selection of talent to pull from. It also helps attract performers from all over the world.

It isn’t uncommon for one of the characters or performers of a dinner show to also work as a performer at a theme park. Additionally, the performing arts in Orlando offer a great resource of talent. Because it can be difficult to make a living from one show or attraction, dinner show talent often split their schedules amongst various venues. Every once-in-a-while a local performer receives such acclaim they find an even bigger stage.

dinner show talent Ginger MinjTake for instance Orlando drag queen Ginger Minj. This talented performer, Joshua Eads-Brown, grew up in Leesburg and has performed in many shows. While most dinner show talent doesn’t find itself in the national spotlight, Ginger Minj has. “RuPaul’s Drag Race” is a reality show on Bravo. The show features 14 contestants vying for the title of “America’s Next Drag Superstar.” Minj was a runner-up for the seventh season, finishing behind winner Violet Chachki.

Minj has also performed her one-woman show in New York titled, “Crossdresser for Christ — The Musical.” She has also shot a music video and traveled to several other countries. Now this dinner show talent returns to Orlando with an appearance on Friday, August 5 at Sleuths Mystery Dinner Theater. At this show, Eads will appear as the character of Madeline in “The Show Must Go On.” This is one of 13 rotating mysteries featured at Sleuths. For more information about this special appearance, call 407-363-1985 or go to sleuths.com.

Dinner Show Talent at Capone’s Dinner & Show

Orlando Dinner Show photo featuring a character from Capone's Dinner & ShowA majority of the performers at Capone’s Dinner & Show have had their fair share of success. Not only is the dinner show talent successful, the staff is as well. It isn’t uncommon for guests to return year after year only to have the same exceptional wait staff!

Not only are the actors talented, they have a special talent. The show at Capone’s features some of the best standup comedy you’ll ever experience. To interact with some audiences takes a gift like none other! From the loud boisterous guest to the shyest young child, the performers read the guest and interact in true gangster fashion.

Because there is so much dinner show talent in Orlando, why go to New York or Las Vegas? Save a night for a dinner show while you are on vacation in Orlando. Discover a hidden gem of ability. Whether it’s a gangster, drag queen, pirate, hula dancer or knight, Orlando’s dinner show talent is genius. See you at the show!
