La Madeleine Country French Café Opening in Orlando

Quiche, croissant & coffee

Just in time for the shopping season, La Madeleine Country French Café will be opening two locations in Orlando within popular shopping malls. The Florida Mall and the Mall at Millenia will add this French cuisine restaurant to their line-up. If you enjoy French-inspired coffee, breads, crêpes and more, you are in for a treat.

Two Shopping Mall Locations

Opening first on October 29th will be the 4,200-square-foot restaurant at The Florida Mall (8001 S. Orange Blossom Trail, Suite 202, Orlando, FL 32809). It will be located in the dining pavilion, near Dillard’s. It will also have a separate outside entrance so patrons can easily access dining in or carrying out. The Dallas-based cafe is known for its welcoming atmosphere, and this location will be no different. With wood floors, beamed ceilings, a fireplace, wood floors and rustic stone and tile, the warmth overflows. So much so that there is also an outdoor patio.

Opening November 12 will be the 6,600-square-foot location across from the Mall at Millenia (4175 Millenia Blvd., Orlando, FL 32839). This location is near Mercedes-Benz and Best Buy. This spacious café will feature the same French Decor and will have added features such as a private dining area and a larger outdoor patio. Love coffee? You’ll want to experience their country French coffeehouse (Maison de Coffee). It will feature a full barista bar, coffee menu, bistro seating and a communal table.

The Ganachery Chocolate Shop in Disney Springs

‘The Ganachery’ Chocolate Shop to Open in Disney Springs

Disney announced earlier this month that they will be opening a brand new chocolate shop — The Ganachery — to be located in Disney Springs. No date has been confirmed for the grand opening. Chocolate connoisseurs and Disney fanatics everywhere can rejoice. Not only is Disney Springs going to have a chocolate hotspot, but there will even be a selection of chocolate bars inspired by a variety of Disney characters!

The Ganachery Chocolate treats

The Ganachery will be nestled in The Landing section of Disney Springs, amongst several mouth-watering Disney Springs restaurants like Jock Lindey’s Hangar Bar and Morimoto Asia. It sounds like a great opportunity for chocolate lovers to grab dessert after they enjoy a meal at one of the many restaurants now located in Disney Springs!

Walt Disney World chefs traveled the world to bring the best chocolate and chocolate-making methods to their shop, where fresh chocolate and ganache (a combination of cream and chocolate) will be prepared on-stage by a chocolatier. If you shop at Goofy’s Candy Co. (located in the Marketplace section of Disney Springs) or the Main Street Confectionary in Magic Kingdom, you’ll experience the same type of stage-like show. This time, instead of drooling over candy apples and cotton candy, we get chocolate!

Ganache selections will include dark (65% custom blend), hazelnut, chipotle, and a unique custom blend derived from the world’s finest flavors and spices. If you love chocolate, it is sure to offer something to your taste…or several items!

Gifts, Shopping & Souvenirs

The Ganachery will allow guests to either buy and savor their chocolaty treats on the spot or purchase some to enjoy later. For chocolate lovers willing to share, The Ganachery will have select take-home gifts available in custom packages, which is a great souvenir to bring back to your chocolate-loving family and friends! Seems like a great way to thank your dog sitter too! It’s a guaranteed hit if you know someone with a sweet tooth!

As sweet lovers ourselves, we’ll be keeping our eyes open for an opening date of The Ganachery. The Ganachery is now open (December 2015)! For more information, be sure to check out our complete guide to Disney Springs. We’ll keep you posted as more choco-centric information is released!

New Orlando Attraction: Crayola Experience

Crayola Experience

It’s time to get creative at a new Orlando attraction! The Crayola Experience opens July 1, 2015.

This week marks the much-anticipated opening of a new Orlando attraction. The Crayola Experience in the Florida Mall makes its debut Wednesday, July 1. A lot of kids (and adults) have had this on their list of fun things to do this summer for quite some time. We even posted about it nearly one year ago!  Now that the attraction will be open, it’s time to get creative!

The Florida Mall is located at 8001 S. Orange Blossom Trail, Orlando, FL 32809.  The Crayola Experience covers a two-story retail space in the mall where the former Nordstrom retail store used to be. It is on the far east side of the mall next to Dick’s Sporting Goods. Currently the Crayola Store is open for business and fronts the Crayola Experience. This store is 6,000 square feet in size on the lower level. The attraction will add another 70,000 square feet of colorful fun upstairs. This makes it a big deal in more ways than one!

No where else does creativity and technology merge together using Crayola’s most popular colors. See all of the things to do in our previous post. The original attraction in Easton, PA (headquarters of Crayola) has proven that children thrive in this unique hands-on experience. Now residents and visitors in the Orlando area can have this same experience.

Tickets cost $16.99 each. A few of the activities cost extra if you decide to participate in them. If you are an Orlando resident and shop at the Florida Mall often, go for the annual pass at $29.99 each. After all, to experience everything this new Orlando attraction offers, it will take up a good portion of your day. When would you get your shopping done?!

The Crayola Experience offers a great way to beat the heat in the Summer and avoid unfavorable weather conditions throughout the year that make attending outdoor attractions a challenge. The many activities it offers will certainly spark the imagination. There are so many interesting things to try at this new Orlando attraction, the entire family will enjoy it.

Create some lasting family memories this summer and check out this new Orlando attraction. Your memories will be a vivid as Blueberry Blue or Grasshopper Green or any other color you can imagine. They won’t melt away in the Summer heat either!

Shopping in Orlando Keeps Getting Better

If you love to shop and eat (who doesn’t?), keep the Florida Mall on your list of places to go to. This Orlando shopping experience is great now, but will be even better in the coming months.  A complete redesign of the mall’s entrance and an expanded food pavilion are in the works. While you may have to wait a year for everything to be complete, the new food court and mall updates are sure to be worth it.

The former Saks building facing Sand Lake Road will serve as a portion of the area where the new expanded dining experience will be. The number of seats will double with indoor and outdoor options. New dining choices and proven healthy fare restaurants, 16 in all, will be built.

This new food pavilion will span 105,000 square feet. To assist with this expanded feature, the mall’s entrance is being redesigned to provide better customer flow into the mall and dining area. Small shops and restaurants near this area are sure to be a shopper’s favorite.

Being able to dine and shop make it easy for families to enjoy a mall experience. This past fall the new Build-A-Bear Workshop opened inside the Florida Mall which allows families to create memories as well as a very interactive stuffed animal. Later this fall, the first American Girl store will open. It will be the only location in Orlando for this popular retail store.

Build-A-Bear at the Florida Mall

Once the new food pavilion is in place, the old food court will be repositioned to make room for new retail stores. “We have great demand for any space at the Florida Mall,” said Brian Hanson, general manager of Florida Mall, “so the ability to reposition existing space and create new mini-anchors, stores, and restaurants is a fantastic opportunity for us to even better serve our shoppers.”

You don’t have to wait until next year to enjoy the experience of shopping in Orlando. There are plenty of great stores and eateries at the Florida Mall now. Be sure to check out the deals and discounts online before you go. You’re bound to find something you want or need. It could be as simple as a quick meal or dessert treat.

The Florida Mall is located at 8001 S. Orange Blossom Trail, Orlando, FL 32809.
